Summer nights

So Summer finally arrived in the UK this week! I really do wish it was always this warm and that I could sit out in the garden until really late like I did last night.
We had to cancel our romantic few days away this week with my father in law being ill.  Hopefully we should be able to fit it in a little later on.  He is making a miraculous recovery against all odds.  He is someone who loves life - and he's putting up a tremendous fight for it.

We decided to give ourselves a night off the hospital visiting - it is the most exhausting of all pastimes, especially when you have to fit work in too.  An evening stroll around a local lake did the trick.

PS That wasn't me in the previous photograph - it was the author Milly Johnson - although we are both vertically challenged with dyed dark hair and struggle with the slimming!

I love hot sunny days, too. Well, no, that's a fib, I'm more of a Narnia girl myself. Good to hear your FIL is improving. Love your pictures.

Yes, hospital visiting is a tiring business, but I am sure your father-in-law appreciates it.

I hope it won't be long before your father-in-law is back to his old self. Always very worrying. My f-in-law had heart surgery several months ago and although very ill at the time came through with flying colors. He is 92 and we are having a hard time getting him to slow down, even after he broke his femur two months ago and tells us he really doesn't need his walker any more. You just keep that generation down for long. Great photos! A well deserved break from the hospital visiting. I know all about that too :)

Such a lovely place to try and leave those worries behind for just a short time, getting away from normality helps to refresh us and help rebuild our strength.

So pleased to hear that your father in law is a little better, it's always a worrying time when they're ill. Hope you manage to get a few days away soon. We visited Elsecar last weekend after your recommendation, just done a blog post.
