Barbara Hepworth - St Ives

Tucked away down a back street in St Ives is a very ordinary looking doorway which leads into the Barbara Hepworth Museum & Garden - a very magical place.

You can see Barbara's studio - which must have been restored as she unfortunately died in a fire here in the 1970's. You can imagine her working in here - its a very beautiful space.

The museum is full of great photographs from Barbara's life, and the garden is full of her work - which she always wanted to be displayed in the outdoors.

Its a gem of a place and a perfect way to spend a morning in St Ives.

  3. Excellent post and thank you for bringing this museum to my attention. I have been to Cornwall, but never St Ives. I really love looking at artist's studios.

  6. Such a tragic death. There's no comparison between the museum in St Ives, hidden behind an ordinary door, and the new Hepworth Museum in Wakefield.
