The Help

Last night my pal and I went to see a freebie preview of the film of the book - The Help. We loved it. It made us laugh and it made us cry. The movie is set in the town of Jackson in America in the 1960's and focuses on one girls ambition to tell the story - from the perspective of the maid - the help. The women who employ the maids are often not kind. It is a longish film - about 2 hours 15 mins, but it doesn't seem it. If you get chance to see it - do. I highly recommend it.


I believe it is out on general release on the 26th October.

    Read the book recently and really enjoyed it with the same reactions you had to the film. Looking forward to seeing it.

    It is a massive hit over her in Texas! I am saving myself to watch it with Mum. I wanted to buy her the book for Xmas. A totally different kind of movie, but one that had me in stitches is BRIDESMAIDS (its a bit yukky in places, but soooo funny). xx

    Hello :) Re the comment on my blog about Lily and Lola - nope, they're full size now! They're about 4.5 years old. I got them from the Dogs Trust when they were 18 months old and they had been living at some sort of Puppy Farm.

    I think they have been bred to be tiny, which is so sad, but at least they're happy and healthy now :)

    Haven't been to the cinema in years! Will have to wait for it to appear on TV.

    I loved your Rotherham pictures in your previous post. It sounds as thought it is really rejuvenating in places - I always thought of it as a deadly dull, dirty industrial town!

    Brilliant book - I read it for my Book Group and the verdict was a great book and well worth reading.
