Mohair Distraction

Just before I put the sewing machine away for Christmas, I turned this luscious vintage mohair scarf bought on my charity shop jaunt with Deb for 99p .....

...into this very designer looking cushion cover for the conservetory.
I did try to wear it Deb, but it was too itchy on my neck!

  4. Oh how I loved that mohair scarf - it has made a great cushion - I think you will see more of it this way. I am about to pack away my machine too - just about ready for the festive season - well actually I haven't bought any presents yet!!!

  5. Oh Diane, that looks great. I have several of those mohair scarves which I drape across the arm of an armchair a) because they are too itchy to wear and b) because I don't know what else to do with them. Cushions may be the way forward, I feel! I like the way you've left the label on.

  6. I have a mohair scarf collection but agree they are impossible to wear, no wonder I've found so many in charity shops. If I wasn't going through such a lazy phase I'd be tempted to make a cushions, great idea.

  7. Absolutely great use for a scarf that's "unwearable"! Fab idea!

  8. That's cool. Why not try and find some fleece or something soft for a scarf? I just adore the pics youput on here, love love love them, and as for xmas shoppnig, I'm finally done!!! Woo-hoo!!! I swear my stepdad is the hardest one to buy for. The last gift I bought for him drove me nuts trying to find. He wanted the first 3 seasons of Top Gear UK. He loves that show, and idk why, but for some reason, he really loves British TV!

  14. It has made a great cushion. Mohair makes me itch too. I knitted a lovely mohair jacket years ago, couldn't wear it.
A friend bought a cardigan with a fleecy lining, I pinched the idea, bought a cheap fleece, sewed it into the jacket, easy peasy, now I have a very, very warm jacket complete with zip. Aren't I glad I didn't take it to the charity shop?

  22. I have many Mohair scarves, and I make sure I only buy quality ones, which usually have a Kid Mohair content, and I don't find them itchy at all !! ... I find them super snuggly and so soo warm while riding my scooter, I even wrap them around my face if its really Cold !... And that makes me feel Sooo Snug and Cosy and mega warm !!
You have to keep them Brushed up, as otherwise, they do lose their Cuddliness!
