My thoughts this morning are very much with the family of PC Barker - the policeman who lost his life in Cumbria. You send them out to work day and night knowing that they do a very dangerous job, but you never allow yourself to think that they might not come home. God Bless.

That is such a tragic story. He was doing his job and helping others.
I also feel for all those affected by the floods - can't imagine how awful it must be to have your home destroyed like that.
It's so sad, what a tragic waste of life. Terrible scenes on the news, who knows when all those people will get back to 'normal', with even more rain on the way.
It's just the saddest thing, my heart goes out to all his family. How do you cope with something like that.

Very sad Diane. I know what it's like to have a hubby in a dangerous job. Good and bad all rolled into one. Pride and fear I suppose. xxx
The news arrived here too, very sad
Unbelievably awful........ Heart wrenching.
My heart goes out to all those whose homes have been destroyed by the floods, but even more so to those who have lost a loved one, a man brave beyond words.
I know Diane - it is so sad.
It is so sad, his family must be devastated. I feel for all those people having to return to their homes to find out what damage has been done.
I thought about you too when I heard. Such a sad thing to happen.

Yes, very very sad. We should all count our blessings each and every time our loves ones come home to us

We have been watching the news and the terrible devastion that the floods have brought. We feel for the policeman and his family and all those affected by the floods.
That was a dreadful thing to have happened, his family must be totally devastated. Cumbria has been hard hit by all the rain but even having your home flooded pales by comparison with a man losing his life while trying to help others.
