...it is now.
The final whistle has blown and the fat lady has sung. Sheffield Wednesday needed to win Crystal Palace to stay up - they drew 2-2.
Hubby had resigned himself to the worst - he said that anything else would be a bonus! (His glass is generally half empty!!) but I think the young man thought it wouldn't happen. There have been tears. And so, just like Linda Bellingham in an oxo ad, Ive made them their favourite tea and mopped up their tears.
Ah well - the only way is up!

Ah - it's a sad day when your team
makes your menfolk cry.
My son went to the F.A. Cup Final at Wembley last year and had his heart broken, so I know how it feels.
You never know they might bounce straight back up next season!

Good old Mums ;) Have made mine a roast tonight too as the boys did a sponsored walk in the pouring rain today :(
You are too good!! Mine(DH) keeps giving me updates on his teams success (or Failure) and I nod wisely but football is not and never has been my thing. I still feed him though!
Thank you Diane, how excited I am. I never thought anyone would want to read my ramblings let alone such a great band. I will have to do that giveaway post now and you are entered automatically.
Back soon Jenny
Aaaawwww, the big softies. What is it with men, football and emotions?
Oh dear. Been through all that here before now what with the demise of Saints in the past couple of years. Will our boy's teams be in the same league next season?

You are a good wife. My husband supports Middlesbrough so we are used to these disappointments.
Commiserations to your men:( Let's hope the Owls are straight back up next season.
I took B Baggins up on Blackamoor Thursday and Friday mornings and heard the cuckoo both days. Shall go and take a look at Wentworth G.C. on a nice quiet weekday. Weekend and Bank Holiday crowds are not my idea of a good time!
Ah, men and football! Unless its men and cricket!
And no, its not sub-tropical here this side of the Pennines! Just a sheltered corner, though it doesn't get much sun there!
My parents went to the game full of hope. My bro and little Neice watched it in Germany with their Wednesday kits on.
It is very sad & disappointing for the fans.
We are half Owls and half Leeds fans here so we are used to highs and lows :)
Most of us footie fans have been through it at some time. Hopefully they'll be straight back up next season.
Oh bless them, but where would we be without tea!

I watched some of the match on telly on Sunday and I thought of your men! Every man in Hull is currently going through the same thing if it's any consolation!
I'm not much of a football fan, more into motor racing (inherited from Baz) our son is though! Ever since my Dad told him his cousin used to play for West Ham...cheers Dad lol
Well done on serving up a sympathetic dinner!
