Success

Well today was the day of our first village fair - and it seems to have been a great success! I didn't get chance to wander around many of the other stalls, but I am assured that the quality was fabulous and most stall holders seem to have done well. We were blessed with great weather and we got a fair few visitors too.

Initially, I thought that I would have 50p, £1.00 and "Individually priced" tables for my Vintage/Bric-a-brac stall (we didn't have room for the handmade stuff in the end), but after a rethink, i decieded that everything would go for 50p - because, a - no one brings a lot of money to these kind of fairs and b - hubby threatened to leave me if it all ended up back in the garage again!
I love stalls like this - they are fab for people watching. Even when we got to the end of the day and were charging 10p for our quality goods, some people were still haggling! Anyway, I managed to raise over £96 for the WI so I think that they will be pleased.
I thought you might like to see that I was visited by characters from Toy Story too!
But the very best bit of my day was being visited by 3 bloggers/bloggy lurkers. Many many thanks to Carol, Mister D and Nic for turning up and saying hello. I already know Nic, and it was lovely to meet the other 2 in person. Thanks for making the effort to come - I really appreciated it. xxx

Please see my comment on your last blog. I was in a hurry and posted it on the wrong page. I really am serious, if it's not a hassle. Thanks. I have to go out in a few minutes. Just don't want it to be an opportunity lost.

Hi there thanks for the warm welcome - glad to see you made a fair amount for the WI - my mum was well impressed with the 50p ladies watch - nice to visit Thorpe Hesley and see the church.
Regarding the sandwich shop on my blog it's located on Orchard Street around the back of Orchard Square. It's in the process of changing hands and I made it as a type of momento for them before they leave ( and go to Poland I think ) .

Thanks for looking, Diane. I've got a couple of beakers and three cups. I don't really collect it, since I'm at the age where I'm trying to get rid of stuff. But as I said in my last blog, I do like to drink my tea out of a china cup -- or beaker and that pattern is the prettiest I have seen. So every time I've come over in the past year or so I've added another piece. But I think the beaker cost 12 pounds and I couldn't believe I saw the little jug and cup and saucer there in your photograph on a 50p table!! Glad your sale went well and thanks again.

That is a real achievement, especially when everything cost only 50p.

Hi Diane, it was a smashing afternoon and lovely to meet you in person.
You did well on your sales, I've already overflowed into our garage so had to watch what I brought home but did get some lovely cakes, jam, decorated gift box and some wool plus the bargainous 10p book from you!
Loved the church and meeting your vicar, a very welcoming lady as were all the people we met.
Well done Thorpe Hesley, hope there will be more fairs in the future.

Glad to hear that your stall was a success - at 50p a time you must have sold a lot to make as much as you did. Well done:)

Hi Diane

I have been reading your blog for a while but have never commented before. I spotted your post about the fair so me and the family came over from Grenoside to have a look - I called it "market research" as I help with our village gala and like to see what everyone else has at their fairs!! You would never know that it was the 1st one - it seemed very professional! Your stall seemed to be doing very well and I love the brooch we bought from you as will my friend when she gets it on her birthday! Love your blog - we have rediscovered a lot of local things since I started reading what you have been up to!

Oh dear I'm being a nuisance. I left you a comment but I think I forgot to post it In it I apologized for corresponding through 'comments" but I don't have your email address. Then I asked if I may please have permission to post a copy of your photo of your sale table, where 'my' china appears. I would like to use it in a post on my blog. I will gladly attach a link to your blog if it's OK.
Now if you already received this message please just delete one of them! Please let me know if I have your permission. Many thanks for your trouble.
