You know you're getting old when....

....you set up a little tea brewing station on your bedside table so that you can both have your first cuppa before you get out of bed......

...and you think its the best idea you have had in ages!

Edited to say: Some of you are concerned about "fresh milk" issues. If you look behind the mug on the left, you can see I hot footed it to Makro and bought a box of catering UHT milk cartons (the miniature ones for individual cups).

Vintage note: I love Apostle Spoons (can you see them in the mugs?) - I have a dozen of them from my grandparents. My mum used her set daily - like I do mine. My sister would only eat with these spoons. She used to call them "stick" spoons, as we discovered that they were the only ones that would stick to a magnet!

You are a woman after my own heart. My husband always loves to make the tea and we always have two cups before we get out of bed in the morning. It helps you wake up before you get up!

I guess this is your version of the Teasmade that were popular in the 70's. I had one but all the hissing and boiling drove me nuts,
(and the milk went sour overnight)!

Fantastic idea. Enjoy those cups of tea before you get out of bed. :) I have a couple of those apostle teaspoons too, inherited from grandparents.

Love it! There is nothing like that first cup of tea WITHOUT getting out of bed! And the teaspoons are great, my 92 year old mother has a drawer full of them.

I had a Teasmade when I was working but as Elaine says, the hissing drove me nuts and I had to get out of bed for the milk anyway...

Hi Diane, DH is an early riser, I'm not, so I'm a lucky girl as I always get a cup of tea in bed.
Apparently teasmades are all the rage again, I was thinking I might look out for one for my sister as she still works full time and that first cuppa is always so welcome.
It's breezy again here.

A brilliant idea. I will just have to figure out how to make a cappucino while still lying down, I need my expresso to get moving.

What a good idea, Diane. Mind you, the desire for 'a nice cup of tea' provides an incentive for me to get out of bed.... x

I am thinking of investing in a potty under the bed too!

Ha ha. My husband makes me a cuppa in the morning because he knows I won't get out of bed otherwise. Only the other day I was thinking perhaps I should invest in a teasmade just in case he ever goes on strike.
Am I getting old too do you think?
Happy New Year xx

My tea maker has two legs and a beard in the morning. As for the potty, we used to call it a gazunder. I suspect you don't really need me to tell you why (because it gazunder the bed!)

Ah, like ChrisJ my tea maker has two legs and a beard too! Your tea making station looks very well organised and I love those mugs but what do you do about fresh milk for your tea?
