Reasons to be cheerful

You know I LOVE a good freebie! Well a month or so ago, my sis noticed that the new L'Occitane shop in Meadowhall shopping centre combined with Woman and Home magazine was having a pamper night - £10 per ticket. Did I want to go? Well yes, so I tried to get us tickets, but they were all sold out. However, about 2 weeks later, an invite appeared through my letter box with 1 free ticket!! (I think this may have been because I once had a free trial of Woman & Home via Martin Lewis's Money Saving Expert website - freebie forum).

So last night night - I toddled along. What a fabulous "pick me up" evening. I was treated to 3 glasses of champagne, sandwiches, a make up session (I could choose between makeup, a facial or hand massage) and a goody bag containing 12 full size products worth £78! Now that's what I call a freebie. I have to say that the products are divine. I also have to say that the staff in the shop were all really lovely. I now want to be as young, and slim, and beautiful, and fragrant as a L'Occitane Lady.

Also - whilst on the subject of freebies, if you take an old dried up mascara to the Clinique counter in Boots, you can drop it into a box they have and walk away with a free Clinique mascara (offer only on until early next week I think). I don't know if this applies to Clinique counters in other stores too, but Boots in Meadowhall had plenty left.
Freebie Hunting is one of my favourite hobbies!

Raking and scratching about in the bottom of my scuzzy makeup bag right now......... what an offer! Thanks for this. You had quite an evening too, well done l'occitane for being so generous.

Lucky you - sounds like a fab evening! I love L'Occitane (have their 4 Reines and Peony sprays) when I went to Shrewsbury recently to meet a friend we spent ages in the shop there and were offered fuit tea as we walked around. What a super bag of goodies you were given - I bet that has helped towards cheering up a dark and rainy November!

Diane, do you know anywhere I could drop my legs in and get a new pair?? Actually, if pushed for stock, just the right one would do?

Can you put ANY mascara in the Clinique box and get another one??

Yes Gilly - its any old Mascara - I took one that I got for free from a magazine that had dried up! As for legs - i'll look into it! xxxx

Oooooh!

Love L'Occitiane , they do wonderful candles, and the handcream was a real hand saver when I worked on the wards (all that handwashing!)
I am almost tempted to go to Meadowhell....

Glad you enjoyed the pamper - better hide the products from your daughter though!

Isn't l'Occitane just great? Good for you! :-)

Re. le potager du roi: yes, it is a very nice place to stop (and even shop as they also sell honey and a lovely rhubarb nectar all made in Versailles). You would have to go in the early summer for it to be worth it though.

Lots more to see in Versailles, depending on what you want to do. Do let me know if you are anywhere near!

It sounds like a great way to spend the evening especially with champa's to tempt. What a great tip for old mascara! I have a habit of keeping them far too long, infact I am embarassed to admit I am sure I have been using the same one for a year! bkush....

Now that's what I call a freebie!! I'm wondering if our Clinque counters here ever do this "trade in" thing with mascara? I'm going to have to check it out. Acctually, I use Clinque masacara, but I don't know why, because I complain about it all the time...too gooey when new, then dries up too fast. Yes, I'm a little hard to please, I guess!

I think I have England envy now, I have never heard of anything like that Clinique deal in Oz, or for that matter that georgeous l'Occitane giveaway either. {I must get around in the wrong circles!} Still, good for you!

That is amazing! What a wonderful evening, they couldn't have made it even more perfect if they had tried. 3 glasses of champagne, good company and extravagant pressies.. I am deeply envious of you. (said in light hearted tones because there is nothing more that I love than a friend having a wonderful time)

Aren't you a lucky girl!! Thought of you the other day when my husband found a heart shaped pebble from the beach and gave it to me on our anniversary! It reminded me of your header!

Wow that must be one of the best freebies I have heard of. I love L'occitaine products, but don't treat myself very often.
