Baking Day

Ive baked cup cakes for my daughter to take back to celebrate her Uni house mates 21st Birthday. I love the pretty box from the Lakeland Store (where I had gone in for a browse and come out considerably poorer!)

I iced them using a nozzle from my vintage Tala icing set - purloined from my Mums house! My Mum has a treasure trove of vintage late 50's early 60's goods - most of them wedding presents that she never got round to using.
Even though she never uses them, she doesn't give them up without a fight, but I think she quite likes the fact that they finally do get used.

Those cakes look amazing! That's a great box too. Lakeland is a dangerous place for bank balances!

Those cakes look fabulous, you made my tummy growl. I was amused by the story of your mum not giving up tools that she has never used, I think I will be the same!

I think it is almost impossible to visit Lakeland and not come out of the shop poorer than when you went in! I remember my mother having a set of icing bags and nozzles of various sizes, I've no idea what happened to them. Your cup-cakes are so pretty and look very professional in their lovely box:)

I absolutely love your pretty cupcakes and they are so beautifully colour co-ordinated with the rose cake box. What a lucky 21st birthday-girl.

Oooo they look pretty, I love Lakeland but they ain't cheap are they? I fancy a Tala icing nozzle set for Christmas, would you recommend the metal one? I seem to struggle with bags and always end up covered in icing !!

Aha! Diane, I still have my Tala Icing set - well, it was my mother's, but she handed it on to me. Fiendishly difficult to get icing out of the little nozzles.......

Love the cup cakes. They won'tr last long!

Woohoo they are perfect cupcakes. Lucky daughter. Your mum must be a bit of a hoarder but good for you in getting the icing set.
I laugh to myself when my daughter gets excited about finding 60's stuff to decorate her apartment. They furnished their whole place with 60's stuff from the markets. All the sort of stuff that we threw away in the 80's.
