I would have definitely followed her blog, and stalked her for a bloggy date!!! She would have been on the "St Ives" meet up list! I feel that she would have loved the way that her sculptures are displayed in the beautiful countryside so close to her home town of Wakefield. I feel sure that she and I would have got on.
They have a room at YSP with some of her family photos in it at the moment. She looked like a little doll when she was young.
I eagerly await the opening of the new Barbara Hepworth museum in Wakefield this week. Of course, I shall take you with me. x

I hadn't realised that Barbara Hepworth was a Wakefield girl, I always imagined she was from the South of England though I've no idea why. She's a really pretty, delicate looking child.
Oooooooh I didn't know about the museum in Wakey..I'll definitely pay it a visit.
I need to go to YSP soon to check out the latest exhibits too as I haven't been there since the David Nash exhibition last year.

The new Museum sounds wonderful and I'd love to visit so I'm looking foward to you taking us there - I know very little about Barbara Hepworth's life other than her marriage to John Skeaping and her death in a fire at her studio in St Ives - I remember the reports in the papers at the time. She does look like a little china doll in that photo:)
I'm sure she would have approved of how her sculptures are displayed too. She looks so fragile as a child.
love your previous blog!
