I had a visit this weekend from a friend. I first met P in 1971 on our first day at Comprehensive school. She sat in front of me and we started chatting - we've been chatting ever since!
We have always had a lot in common, and our interests are still very similar.
We had our children at the same time and have seen each other about once a year since we had our first babies.
Her visit this weekend was well timed and coincided with hubby's working weekend. Her partner was away working too.
We had breakfast out, wandered around pretty villages, stately homes and gardens. We nattered and chattered - for hours and hours. Drunk tea, coffee, wine and gin and caught up on movies neither of us had seen.
I realised that it was the first time we had spent time just on our own since for over 25 years.
It was fab.

Thats true freindship...

Aww that's lovely. I'm 29 and hate how my friends and I are separating in different directions, but like you, when we get together it's as though we've never been apart :)
It's great to have friends like that isn't it? You just pick up where you left off last time. My friend Sandi and I met when she was 11 and I was 10, we were bridesmaids to each other and we've always stayed in touch and like you see each other once or twice a year, we've been friends for 54 years now:)
That is what true friendship is all about. It sounds as if you had a really great time.
Great photo's of all the flowers & so please that you met up with your old friend BUT next time you see her take a photo please
just has a similar visit myself.... lightens the heart eh?

It is lovely to stay in touch with friends, lovely photos on this post Diane.

This is so lovely! I am glad you had a great weekend with your friend! Cx
It sounds wonderful - you are very lucky. I still write to people I was at Uni with and I haven't actually clapped eyes on them in 30 years! What's that all about?
awww....that is so nice - and such beautiful photos to accompany the post. Always good to have a good friend who weathers the years come what may! xxx
I haven't heard the word 'natter for quite some time. My friend Janet, in Exmouth, and I used to natter all the time. That's a lovely grouping of Lupins. We used to have quite a few of these in our garden at Flamborough.
A very special friend indeed.
Lovely flower photos.
Glad you had such a lovely time with your pal.

True friends are worth their weight in gold... those lupins are stunning
So nice to hav friends to chat with - you have known her for a long time. How pretty are the flowers in your post - English cottage garden beauties.
With old friends its not hard work, it feels so good to have friends like that.
How wonderful to have such a cherished friend! So glad you were able to meet up and have such a great time together.
That's lovely, Diane - glad you had a great weekend. I have a friend like that and we meet a couple of times a year - we met at school when we were 6 yeaars old and have been friends ever since - and it is always as if we saw each other only the week before:)
It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend. It's lovely to have such long standing friends who have been there over the years.
How great to have kept in touch over the years. I'm not so good at doing that but funnily enough have just heard from my best friend at school, after a gap of 40 years!
My best friend is one who I was at school with, we met when we were 12 and we keep in constant touch. Diane
Amazing Lupins!!!
I wish I was still in touch with my very first best friend..sadly we "split up" during our last year of school :-(
xxxx
That sounds like a lovely day. I always think that it doesn't matter how long good friends are apart, you'll always have that bond whatever happens :-)
Sounds wonderful! Sigh
I love time spent with my oldest friend, we lost touch for a few years in our 20's but now, like you, we get to see each other at least once a year........... and we never stop chatting either!
Carolxx
Always enjoy your lovely flower photos x
