I'm supposed to be cleaning the house and finishing off the Christmas Preparations - but I keep getting sidetracked! This morning I stumbled across a box of old family photo's -allow me to share some.
This photograph reminds my sister of the day that mentally scarred her for life - as she STILL "mithers" on about it to this day. We were at our Grandma's house, sat on the wall of her Rose Garden. The dressing up box consisted of only 2 flouncy net underskirts. Playing at "weddings" and being the oldest, and the bride, I decided I needed BOTH underskirts - leaving her to be a bridesmaid in just her duffle coat.
I remember the day that this photograph was taken very clearly. I was 5 years old and sat with my brother and my lovely Mama's (mums mum) waiting for Mum to bring home our new baby sister. She had been in hospital for a week and was being brought home in an ambulance - no complication, its just the way the NHS did it in those days.
What a happy family photo! We are on holiday in Blackpool and I'm not happy at all am I!!!
And I often wonder what could have possibly been said in the few seconds that you get between shots in a photo booth to change our faces!
Little brother took no time at all to grow bigger than me! We often looked like twins when we were little - especially as we were dressed in matching homeknitted cardigans!

Those photos are fab - isn't it funny how you remember the things from your childhood. In my house I was for a long time (7 years) the youngest. My Dad had made us a farm set my older sister was ALWAYS the Farmer's Wife - me - the Chopper Up Lady. Yep that's the way it rolls when you are the younger sibling - I am so with your sister in her duffle coat. LOL.
Great photos! I always enjoy looking at others photos but the old ones are even more special. This looks like a nice trip down memory lane.
These are brilliant!!! Have got tears in my eyes from laughing......you've hardly changed!!! Your Mum is such a "lady!"
Lovely photos, my Dad always wore his shirt and tie, even on the beach in the middle of summer. I never get anything done when I start looking at photos, happy memories.
I remember the day my sister was born, the midwife arrived and I rushed to look in her bag - "where is she?" I asked (I had asked for a sister and I was jolly well going to get one!) I was most 'dischuffed' not to find the baby in the bag. Sis arrived later that evening, at least she waited until I returned from school.

What wonderful memories, that is the sort of thing that would sidetrack me as well. t'other Diane
Well your sister looks happy enough in the photo - for all her mithering.
They're all such great photos.
Of course you needed both underskirts!!! I bet you wanted an ice cream in the 'grumpy' Blackpool photograph! x
Hello Diane Heartshaped, love your photo's, I'm the little sister to two bones deb, so I know what it's like to be the little sister :o) I need to ask BSis2bones what she chopped on the farm

Great photos, great memories, how nice to have you family photos you will have to get them out of that box and into a book.
Have so enjoyed these photos Diane and had a really good laugh over the first - typical sisters' behaviour I reckon! x
that first photo made me quite tearful .......
Thank you for stopping in and leaving a comment on my long-neglected blog. I haven't felt like posting anything on there for months, but I'm pushing myself to get started again.
I need to come back and dig into your archives when I have more time, but I didn't need to go past the first sentence on today's post, before I knew you were "my kind of people ;-) "
Lovely, utterly lovely.....
Your mum looks beautiful in her walk in the park pearls, and you in your white shoes...

Fancy not letting your sister have one of the petticoats - you little minx!! ;o)))))))))
Great set of photos - a collection to be treasured.
These are fantastic. Especially the first one and photo booth one, and your parents look very dashing in their sunday best.
Wonderful! I've enjoyed your photos - what super memories you have. I love looking through old photos and have ones of a happy me and a grumpy me at the beach (I remember I didn't want my photo taken as the sun was in my eyes and I couldn't see) and my mum and aunt in 50s frocks, white sunglasses, beads around their necks and lots of lipstick! Priceless:)xx
brilliant snaps......I have a picture, just like yours, of me and my baby brother in the arms of my grandparents and I am wearing the exact same kit and hair style!!!
It is fun looking at old photos. You have to store them safely for your offspring. Your mum and Dad are a handsome couple in their Sunday best.
Love the photos - even thr grumpy one! My Mum used to knit my brother and I the same jumpers too!
