From my village, we can look over the valley where Sheffield sits in the bottom, and over to the edge of the Peak District. We could see snow, so on Sunday, hubby and I decided to tog up and head out frolic in the white stuff and get that Christmassy feeling flowing.
You have to admit that the view from Foxhouse, just a few minutes drive out of Sheffield, over towards Mam Tor is pretty spectacular and one of the reasons why I love living around these parts.
We stopped off at the National Trust Cafe for homemade soup and a roll - a brilliant start to our walk. The house on the Longshaw Estate is not open to visitors. It is split into apartments. A pretty gorgeous place to live I think. It so reminds me of somewhere the Brontes would have written about.
So if you have no Christmas snow at the moment, come with me across the Grouse Moors, and wallow in the loveliness of this perfect winters day.
Sundays walk was a complete contrast to Saturdays - but I enjoyed them both equally. I love that this contrast is really only 15 minutes apart.

It's lovely up near Foxhouse and Longshaw isn't it? I feel lucky to live less than 15 minutes drive from there. Was surprised at the ampount of snow on the hills though, no sign of snow in our valley.
We can't see Mam Tor from where we live, but the tops were all snowy, and the Cat and Fiddle road was closed!
I agree, it looks lovely! Bit too dangerous for me, though!
Hello Diane
I loved your walk and photographs, it looks wonderful! Alas, Im stuck in the house with an awful flu-type virus and so we didn't get out this weekend as planned. The snowy hills look fantastic, reminds me of Scotland so thanks for sharing and cheering me up today! Ooh, and thank you also very much indeed for your lovely Christmas card - it's beautiful :)
Sending love to you and yours,

No sign of snow here, I'm wondering if we're going to get a white Christmas again this year, it's certainly cold enough at the moment.
No snow here at all-plenty where you are I see -what a lovely walk with fine views -good to wrap up and get walking and the blood pumping-a well deserved guilt free treat after too -that`s living ! xx
It looks beautifully cold and crisp! I love the Longshaw Estate. We were up there last month as we took my sister for lunch in the cafe and a walk down to the barn and back. Glad you found the snow:)
When I was at Junior School we twice stayed in Longshaw Guest House on school trips. My main memories are of sleeping in a dormitory, talking to sheep and having packed lunches. Wonderful area.
No snow here just lots and lots of rain.

We've got torential rain down here in Worcestershire. Given the amount of melting snow from Wales coming down the Severn as well, I reckon we'll be flooded again before New Year....
Some snow would be seriously nice! Your pictures are gorgeous.

i can see those hills from my kitchen window - really even though they are miles away.
What a lovely view, no snow here but rain and sunshine makes for some sticky days.
Thanks for sharing your snowy walk today. We had thick snow on Friday. We thought we were going to get stuck in work, but by home time it was all gone. Not a flake left thank goodness.
Thank you so much for your lovely card too!

You do some interesting walks. Good on you. It is great walking with your partner too. Mine is losing interest in walking so I go by myself and once a week with 2 friends. The view of the snow covered mountains is lovely.
What lovely photos - i haven't seen any snow yet.
Ahhh, these pictures are soooo Christmassy and Winter Wonderlandy! We've only had a smidgen of snow here in Norfolk so far - would be nice to have a white Christmas!
We had hardly any snow here but over the tops in Sadddleworth it was quite deep, I was running around and too busy to go and enjoy it though and now it's all gone! I don't think it will be back for Christmas boo-hoo!
