Hubby went over to see his Dad last week. I got a text from him:
"Do you want 12 Babycham glasses - Dad is chucking them out"
I replied:
"Yes yes yes yes yes!!! What else has he got?"
I couldn't even wait to wash them before I photographed them. I was going to keep 4 and ebay the rest (as I have become proficient at selling on ebay !), but I have decided to keep them all to serve puddings in. I have an idea for a Babycham Cheesecake Dessert! Do any of you experts know the difference between the 2 types? You can see here that the 2 at the front are different. Some have the full bambi type deer on - like the one on the left, and others have a smaller version - like the one on the right.

Gosh, I haven't had a Babycham in years! Do they still make it? The glasses will be a lot more practical for dessert than a drink. I always spill those kind!
I used to love Babycham . I found this http://www.kitschcapers.com/acatalog/babycham_glasses.html it says that the smaller deer glass is from the 50's and the larger deer is from the 70's ....... Lucky you
Oh I remember these! I think my mum might have some lurking somewhere!! I must investigate! Cx
My Mum chucked her Babycham glasses out. I would have loved to have had them. You must drink out of them, at least once, its the act of keeping your drink in the glass that makes it fun.
I love Babycham, everything about it is just so lovely! I won a few glasses a couple of years ago, I love them to bits! x
wow, how...retro, lol!! Do they still make babycham?
I remember it well from my childhood and the TV adverts though it's not something I have ever drank as you don't see it anymore.
They look a bit on the small side for puddings, but I am rather greedy!!
My dad worked for Tetley Walker, and we used to have loads of promotional stuff at home. We had a set of the Babycham deers themselves, not on glasses. I don't know what happened to them ... they'll be long gone because my mum has thrown everything away.
Looking forward to a photo of the pudding you're going to put in them.

I'm ashamed to say that the sickest I've EVER been was through drinking copious amounts of brandy and Babycham. It's a killer.....
K xx
Thats a blast from the past ! do they still make cherry brandy -seem to remember that was once an "in " drink too ?
I have a few of those from my mum.
I think they are the larger ones but I didn't know there were two different types.
Enjoy your desssert
Sue

I remember drinking Babycham when I was young and I remember the glasses they were served in too. I imagine they must be quite collectible now. It's a long time since I had Babycham, don't even know whther it's still available. Thouigh if you are planning a dessert I suppose it must be:)
Babycham my first grown up drink. I used to think I was so sophisticated drinking out of those glasses. Thinking back I probably was as I would probably spill it now!
I remember when I was a child on our way on holiday to Devon or Cornwall we would stay overnight at a place called TwinCotts at Shepton Mallett and we would always see the babycham deer on top of the factory - I used to look forward to seeing it. I also remember drinking babycham out of those glasses usually at Christmas when the other popular drink was a 'snowball'. Look forward to seeing your glasses with a desert in them:)
Lucky you Diane. They are fabulous. Cider and Babycham - that's a good drink if I remember rightly.
You will share your receipe for the cheesecake desert won't you?
Babycham was the drink we would let the kids have a glass of at xmas but little did they know that there was more lemonade in it than anyhing else but it made them feel grown up. Look forward to seeing your desert.
Hugs Pat.
I remember when I was a student we used to drink cider and babycham! What a mixture, but it was reasonably cheap and did the trick!
Love the glasses.

love the glasses I have some too and occasionally have a Babysham in them the girls find it very amusing. You can even buy it in big bottles now!
I only have one of the glasses which used to be part of a display in my parents' shop along with some of the little bottles and a Babycham fawn. Classy, eh?
can you still get baby cham? I've not seen it in a while. What is it exactly anyway? Never tried it. Love the glasses and any ebay tips are WELCOME! xxx
Haha, Babycham!! loved it. Cant help you with the deer though!! Lovely picks of your little family, shame about the one that didnt make it. I seem to be experiencing problems with Blogger, I cant comment on lots of blogs for some reason, Just been tring for ages on 'Everyday life' but no luck , I hope this one works!!
weird, that posted straight away!!!! looking forward to next week!
Sigh.......... Babycham (with a maraschino cherry threaded on a cocktail stick), and me and my friend dancing round our handbags.........
You lucky thing! I'm sure my parents used to have a couple of these glasses but don't know what became of them :(
That was my sisters favorite drink. One bottle very friday night.
She passed away 7 years ago at the age of 42 from cancer.

I think Blogger is acting up again? My previous comment did not seem to get through so I will try again! Love the glasses, I've doing posts recently on London in the late 70's and funny enough mentioned nicking a Babycham glass, just like yours with the larger fawn! Unfortunately, with my constant moving I've lost it! Does anyone remember Snowballs, another very 70's drink!
Hello, I love Babycham and am a collector. The 50's glasses have a white upright fawn & a hexagonal stem to the glass, the 60's deer has a blousier bow & is prancing( generally brighter in colour) Some 60's glasses have a 'lined font' on the base rather than the block blue & burgundy writing, the 70's deer can be seen from the inside of the glass as he is on the outside. The glass has a round stem. I can't see yours very well but it does look like you have some 60's ones there. Hope this helps!
What was Babycham and cider called. It had a name
Was it a 'Legover'?
Yes, I think the Snowball was made with "Pernoe. Quauntro, black currant, lime and Lemonade. Not sure about the spelling or the mix volumes. "
