An Eerie Walk

As the air has eventually warmed, but the ground has remained cold, we ended up yesterday with a very misty day. We had planned a trip further afield, but not knowing how the weather would turn out, we decided to stay a little closer to home.

Our walk around the lake at Clumber park was very eerie, especially as there weren't many people about either so it was spookily quite too.

The boys were drawn to the still frozen lake.

I was shocked to see how much damage had been done to the forest by the snow. Lots of big trees had lost huge branches and some had been totally felled.

Ive never seen the park like this before. Most people only ventured as far as the National Trust Cafe.

None of these photos were shot in black and white, but there wasn't much colour around.

I know I have to stop but that's another BrontĂȘ atmosphere. Have a great day with hopefully a few rays of sunshine.

I love seeing photos taken in mist and fog, it gives them real atmosphere. It's amazing how much damage snow can do, there are branches and small trees down in Eccleshall Woods too though the large trees semm to have survived OK so far.

Stunning photographs! We've woken up to fog today ... it all looks a bit spooky here too. I've only been to Clumber park once. We loved it. Must go back one day.

We haven't had fog like that for quite a while now. Snow has just about gone here too, forgot what the pavements looked like !

Great sppoky photos! It's been really foggy here too, for a couple of days. Now the snow's gone, all the builders' rubbish is on view in our garden:(

Similar weather here in Glasgow now the snow has melted, and it does look very eerie. I thought I'd be glad about the thaw and I am really, but I do miss the thick frost on the trees which looked so beautiful. Your frozen lake pics are lovely, full of atmosphere :-)

Lovely photos. I was on the road yesterday driving top Newbury and back and it was not much fun in the mist. I left my camera behind, but there are few places to stop and take photos anyway. Diane

Hello thanks for your comment - two now how exciting. Clumber photos fab - you will have passed the end of my road to get there - almost. Thanks for the tip about the cards - I am just about to get my stuff out to do some making. Will post the photos if I can manage it - not quite used to all this technical stuff yet. Not even sure how to comment in the right place - lol.

Such thick mist makes for lovely photos, it softens everything. It has never really got light here for two days running - feels like the End of the World! I should save your Saltaire visit for a sunnier day - it's not at its best right now. You can't see the top of the chimney!
