A Russian Christmas

Many thanks to Jill who sent me a 2 for the price of 1 voucher which saved me £15 (which I spent in the gift shop!) on my admission to see the Russian themed Christmas decorations in Chatsworth House.

Photos cannot do them justice - they were stunning.
The crowds were enormous - they were literally bussing them in, so it was a slow shuffle around.

You don't get to do the whole of the house on this tour - just the rooms that are decorated.

The thing I love about Chatsworth House is the fact that you can feel that it is still "lived in".

This Russian peasant woman was found wandering around.

Staff were dotted around telling stories about Christmas in the house. The table was set here for a 20 course dinner!!.

You can tell that the Duchess reads the same blogs as I do as she has blatantly copied Lyn's new chandelier!

I'll show you the photos from the gardens tomorrow.

I have a picture of me with my face through that hole!!

It was my first time going round it last month, really want to go round again once all the decorations are put away.

Much preferred the sleeping lion to the scary looking one!

It was extremely busy when we were there on Saturday. They'd decorated beautifully again.
I'm so glad that you were able to make use of the voucher. Sounds like you had a lovely time.

I look forward to seeing your photos of the gardens... when I went last week the grounds were closed due to the snow.

I managed to make it home empty handed despite all the lovely things on offer in the shops! Well done me!

Ah - fabulous! I love Chatsworth and those lions are my favourite things in the whole place!
We're going to take our caravan and spend five days there in June!

We are very lucky aren't we, to have that amazing place on the doorstep. I was bought copies of the lions a few years ago - Fred and Bert, they sit on the hearth, daren't put them any higher cos if you dropped one, they would end up in the cellar, or a completely broken foot.

Is Chatsworth Brideshead Revisited? I seem to remember but I could be wrong. This is so stately and so grand, I bet that you loved it despite the crowd (which would have put me off).

I am actually the last person who would ever be a fussy eater, I like everything except tinned tuna!

My recent fussyness has come about due to fertility drugs/side effects and generally feeling unhungry :(

I think I'm just about over it now thank god, just a being a bit pathetic really!

I can still manage a baileys however!

What a wonderful day out. The table looks so grand, but 20 courses, can anyone really eat that much?

That table looks sumptuous! But 20 courses?

Oh my goodness! Where you there on Sunday? Only my mum was there with the smalls... They had a fab time, worth every penny.

I should have been there, but I was stuck on the lounge floor clearing the frightful mess up!
