And finally...

We had to say goodbye to Cumbria. We had loved it so much. We chose out hotel on the lakeside because it had a pool and spa and when we booked it, way back in January, we thought it would give us something to do should it rain for the whole 3 days - we never saw a cloud!

It is the first time that we have had more than 1 night away without the kids - and we enjoyed the time, walking and talking and making exciting plans for the next stage of our lives together. It felt like we were staring out all over again.

Bowness was wonderful to stay in. It was surprisingly busy and a little crowded by day, but you could easily find a walk to take you away from the crowds, and by evening it had a fabulous continental feel with many gorgeous restaurants to eat in, just a short stroll from our hotel.
We enjoyed a boat trip - so relaxing.
The scenery is stunning everywhere you look.

The valleys are also a training ground for fighter jets and army helicopters - the jets fly very low and make you jump out of your skin, then make your heart stop as you wait to make sure that they make it over the hills.

Bowness was the first place that hubby and I went away together to 23 years ago. I had quite forgotten that until we were there. We won't be leaving it another 23 years to return - we'd never get up those hills!

Date Night

Hubby and I made the most of the light evening and fine weather by taking ourselves off for an evening stroll. It was great to see such huge buds out on the Chestnut trees. The sun this week has brought nature bursting into life.

The crows in the trees were making a huge racket.
Hubby found me a heart shaped stone on the church path.
Rosie - look whats happened! I think these are really early.
The church path always looks its best when the daffodils are out.

And the blossom is out too.
We did dawdle taking photos, and stopped for a chat with someone we hadn't seen for a while. It's lovely to breath fresh air when you have been cooped up in an office all day.
And we watched the sun set too.
And we called for a quick drink at the pub too - it would have been rude not to.

I always love our date nights. x

Heart Warming

I have been continuing the declutter here at heartshaped towers - believe me - there is a long way to go yet! Whilst bags of it have gone to the charity shop, I have continued to sell some of it on ebay.

One of my recent sales had a great story attached to it. A lovely young man bought a vintage ring box from me. I was very loath to part with this as it did have some sentimental value, but its great to know that it has gone to a good home. He told me that he was planning to propose to his girlfriend with his great grandmothers ring and needed a suitable ring box. Apparently the ring looked perfect in it.

Yesterday morning, he messaged me to let me know that she had indeed said yes, and I could watch the whole thing on You Tube. I have to say that I sobbed into my Ready Brek as I watched it.

The lovely young couple gave me permission to share this with you - so enjoy. I have to say its great to see romance alive and kicking, and I wish them all the luck, love and happiness in the world.

PS It makes Mr Heartshaped's proposal look a bit weak! I seem to remember he just told me that we were going to get married - he can be very forcefull!!
