Film making

A

I thought I would share my daughter's latest piece of film making that she did recently (along with her friends Dave and Matt).  This is the sort of work she wants to get into once she has finished Uni and she has made a few films for the Sheffield Brand Hantu this summer.  Let me know what you think.  (If you double click on the piece once it starts, you get it full screen for better effect.)

Cley and Wells

On day 2 of our Norfolk break, we had planned to walk, and walk and walk.  We took ourselves off to Cley beach straight after breakfast.

It was full of twitchers with the most fabulous of lenses.

After a brisk walk along the very shingley beach, we headed to Wells-next-the sea for a very long walk on the very sandy beach.
Wells is famous for its beautiful row of stunning beach huts.  If you fancy buying one of these, you better start saving (or robbing a bank!) I found this website with some for sale - you can get a pretty decent one for £62,500.00!!!!
It would be no hardship trying to get your moneys worth out of one though.
The beach has some fantastic sand dunes along it and is miles and miles long.

We had a fabulous walk.
On the morning that we left Yorkshire to come to Norfolk, I had been reading the blog of another Sheffield lady - Mrs Hotchpotch and I noticed that she had recommended the Chocolate Brownies at Wiveton Hall, which was on our way back to our love nest.  What a fabulous place this was.  The view across the marshes was stunning and I can verify that the Brownie (and indeed hubbies Victoria Sandwich) was utterly divine.  Many thanks Mrs H for this recommendation - I love blog land for inspiration.
We had a wander around, but hubby quickly dragged me away from the antiques barn and the farm shop!
* I have no idea why some of my photo's have developed a black line across them!!!

Our Mini Break

So how do you pick somewhere to stay for a romantic few days away?  I chose the Wiveton Bell for hubby and I from the first few words of the description of our room - "Farrow and Ball Palette"!!!!  To be fair, most of North Norfolk is painted in Farrow and Ball Palette.

It only has four rooms, but they are four very gorgeous ones.  Our room was converted from this little barn attached to the pub at the side.  You don't get breakfast in the pub, but at around 8.30am, a local baker hangs warm croissants and pain au chocolat, fresh granary bread and milk on your door.  Cereals, Jams, Honey etc are already in your room along with drinks paraphanelia,  a kettle, toaster, and champagne.  So breakfast is taken entirely at your leisure.
I chose our bed room because it was the cheapest (I know - true Yorkshire woman!) as we weren't intending much time in it unless we were asleep.  It was gorgeous and really comfortable and warm.  A proper little love nest.

Hubby loves me for many reasons, but I was particularly in favour when we first got to our accommodation on Monday afternoon and produced a walk I had found on the internet which we could do from our pub, taking in about 7 real ale pubs along the way.  So off we went.
The first one was in gorgeous Blakeney.
We had lunch at one of the aforementioned pubs.
Then we decided to walk over the marshes to Cley.  The marshes are fascinating and we saw so many different types of birds - Curlews, Oyster Catchers, Redshanks.
They are also totally peaceful - something that we relished.
Then in Cley we partook in our second pub stop.

As we sat outside the 3rd (and final - we are lightweights ) pub on the village green, we realised it was only 5.30pm on a Monday afternoon and here we were sinking a pint or 2!!  Hubby commented that this is what chavs do of a Monday afternoon!
Find me a shell suit I say!

Just what the doctor ordered.

What with one thing and another around here of late, we felt that we owed ourselves some time away from everything.

There is nothing that huge expenses of sand, blue skies and sea cannot sort out.  We arrived home in a much better frame of mind.

My date with George

And so finally, after almost a years wait,  my sister and I got our date with George Michael at Sheffield Arena.

It certainly has been the highlight of my week and has given me a much needed lift.
The whole show was stunning.  No gimmicks or gadgets - just a beautiful musical experience.  His voice is perfect, the orchestra was amazing, the songs were so well chosen.

Despite some of George's well publicised antics, and the press's constant mission to bring him down, his fans have a genuine affection for him.  The whole Arena was full of love for George and his beautiful music.
Get well soon George and thank you.

So, I would really like to know what piece of advice would you give to your 18 year old self?

Chatsworth Park

Come with me for an Autumnal walk around Chatsworth Park.  All of a sudden, the leaves have started to turn.

We arrived later than we anticipated, so only had time to wander around the Stand Wood Walk.

I am always ready to sit and admire the view when we reach the top.
I always fancy staying in the Hunting Tower, and now you can hire a chef when you stay too!

There are a couple of lovely lakes up here.  They gather water from the moors, and then power the fountain in the gardens at Chatsworth House.
The Swiss Cottage also appeals as a weekend getaway too.

The facelift of the house is almost complete.

We had a lovely walk.
