Motivated!

We are in the middle of possibly the wettest drought on record! This means that lovely light evenings are being wasted by me having to be indoors!  The garden is totally soaked and the lovely spring flowers are battered.  The rain (and hail) are of biblical proportions, and it is starting to have echoes of 2007 about it!  The River Don is on a flood warning and we saw a few worried looking environment officials on a bridge near the Meadowhall shopping centre - which flooded last time. But on a positive note,  it also means that a bit of decorating I have on the go is getting done!

I am still very motivated to try and get a better looking body for summer, and found this book in a charity shop which is helping me too.  Some of the rules are hard.  No wheat (not so hard) No dairy (a bit hard, I am a cheeseaholic) and NO WINE!!!! (very hard!) .  You start by giving yourself 2 weeks on the "diet" .  I thought 2 weeks would be easy, but I realised at the end of day 1 that 2 weeks was going to be a long time!!  However by day 3, I felt a lot less bloaty and my clothes fit much better and this has spurred me on.  I think this book was a bargain for 50p!

I have also upped my exercise regime too.  I've taken to walking before work again,  I still go to my Zumba class and we have all taken up swimming again each week - which we thoroughly enjoy.

So when it does stop raining, hopefully I will look better/fit into my summer clothes!

Give up all those foods?! I couldn't do it, though well done to you for sticking to it and for all the exercise.

Gosh I remember the 2007 floods. I am quite enjoying the weather but I do hope Sheffield doesn't flood again.

My blog has been very quiet this month because of the weather - I've stayed in and read book after book but I'm ready to get outdoors again now, rain or not!

I wish I could become motivated to get some exercise, I've become really lazy over the last few months!

Oh now I see why you didn't eat/drink anything during your last getaway :D
We had a lot of rain too during the past days, so no walking at all for me...hopefully this weekend :-)
Good luck with your healthy resolutions, you sound very motivated!

I keep trying to give up wine but I find it very difficult to make that 'good habit' stick. All the best with the 'regime'! Jx

Once you get past the first week of a diet it is easy and you just keep going as long as you need to.

Isn't the weather frustrating? I know we need the rain but I need to get out and walk too without getting too wet! Good luck with the diet:)

Great bargain finding that book! Hope the diet continues to work well for you. Not sure I'd make it far without dairy/wheat. Best of luck with the rain. Hope you see some dry days soon. :)

It's lways easier once you can see and feel some results from a diet. As for the rain I'm thoroughly fed up with it! It crossed my mind about the 2007 floods as the local river (Sheaf) is running fast and high as are all the smaller rivers. Let's hope the sun comes out and everything dries up before we get to that point.

Good luck - Zumba is a good start, a friend of mine swears by it (literally LOL).

I couldn't give up certain food groups, it would just make me crave them more. I've now lost 2 stone 5 pounds and I've done that just by cutting down on portions, stopping eating between meals and walking more. Good luck with the weight loss, it will all be worth it when you're a slim jim in time for your holidays.

Love the first line of this post Diane and also smiled to see that you're making the best of a bad situation. Hopefully the rain will have stopped by the time the decorating's finished?!

The diet sounds impossible!!! Good luck though. Lesley x

Good luck with your diet, after last week's holiday/celebrations I've decided 'we' need to go on a diet. It starts on Wednesday (well I have things I 'need' to eat up!).
Hoping to lose a stone at 2lbs a week.
Thank goodness it has stopped raining, I've been worrying about Old Moor as the last flood destroyed so many birds/nests/eggs. I know it is part of the flood plain but it is so sad when it happens at nesting time. Think it will be a few more days before danger passes by.

It's harder to take exercise when the weather is like this. I do quite a bit of cycling and walking, but I don't really enjoy swimming or dancing much. I'm so glad that I can manage without wine, but bread I find very hard to do without. All this is starting to sound like a bit of an excuse on my part... hmm....hmm....
