Phase 4 - Padstow

So we flew back from the Scilly's and drove to Padstow.  We had wanted to camp in St Ives, but the campsite was full, and so we chose Padstow as we had been before for the day and thought it looked OK.  Our campsite was lovely, but as we walked into town, I though that we had made a big mistake.  After the peacefulness and cleanliness of the Scilly's, Padstow felt dirty and overcrowded, and we did fall out with it a bit at that stage.

So we treated ourselves to Rick Steins fish and chips, but these were no where near as nice as Adam's on St Martins.
However we soon settled in as the weather was great and the outlying area of this part of North Cornwall was breathtaking.
We soon found some quieter spots and has some lovely beach days - loads of reading was done!

We left our campsite mid morning and didn't return until after 9pm each day - we did lots of exploring.

You can see our little campsite on the banks of the river Camel - it was a very pretty spot.

And so after 5 days camping in Padstow, it was finally time to go home.  2 weeks had flown by we had loved every minute.  Hubby said that he had really enjoyed staying in diffeent places so it's something I might repeat next year.

It looks lovely so close to the water. But I have heard that 'Padstein' has become very over rated.

Stunning photos of the beaches and I love the cheery windbreakers.
What a shame that Padstow was a bit of an anticlimax, but you had such a wonderfully varied holiday, you should get yourself up as a holiday planner!

It all looks lovely, although there was a scathing article about Padstein in the paper last weekend.

What a shame about Padstow but the campsite looks super and a good base to explore all the other lovely places nearby:)

Been catching up with all your holiday blogs. Your photos as stunning - and you find some very quirky things! I liked north Cornwall better than the south, but its years since I went there and I imagine its changed a lot. But you do make me yearn for a holiday there!

I am really not sure how I have missed all these posts Diane....
ANyway the campsite looks good and so close to the water too. I know what you mean about how clean and tidy a place is then you look at other places with different eyes but we do have some of the most beautiful countryside in the UK and I am trying not to compare it too much to France at the moment.

Such a pretty coast line, and a great place for a holiday.

You managed to pack some much into your 2 week break. I'm sorry you didn't enjoy Padstow after the peace and quiet of the islands. St Ives would probably have felt the same with so many people.
The location of your camp site looks stunning glad you found tranquility and beauty here too.

What a great holiday you've had. Sorry to hear that your visit to Padstow was a little bit of a let down. Though I'm sure those beautiful beaches close by made up for it. xx
