The young man has finished his first set of exams at Uni and decided that he would like us to visit him (and take him a food parcel, and treat him to a nice lunch!) and have another walk around Leeds.
The weather was awful when we set off, but fortunately it cleared up a lot and we managed to have a good walk around other parts of the city.
We had a brief walk through the new Trinity Shopping Centre. I like the concept of this centre as whilst it has a roof on it, it is not "indoors" as such.
Lots of the city is very old and there is such a lot to see,
I love the old Corn Exchange - now converted to small individual shops.
It is such a spectacular space inside.
We also took a little walk down by the river - I think we will walk further around this area next time.
The market was closed as it was Sunday - but it is a lovely market.
A wander around the Victoria Quarter, browsing all the high end designer shops is always lovely. The County Arcade is fabulous.
We are enjoying exploring this area where we have only visited for shopping or the Theatre before.

I'd love to visit the County Arcade, it looks fabulous. Must suggest a day out in Leeds to my daughter when it warms up a bit.
The arcade is stunning. So interesting visiting a place which is fairly new to you as there is so much to look at and take in.

The arcades are wonderful, aren't they? And I love the Corn Exchange too. So many beautiful and interesting buildings, I like a wander in Leeds. I don't know the area around the river very well, so like you, I think I need to explore a bit more. I've wanted to go to the Thackray medical museum for ages, so that's on my to do list as well. I was surprised at how impressed I was with the Armouries, far more interesting than I thought it would be. xxxxx
Great pictures. I love Leeds (as did my dad) but haven't visited since the Girlie was at uni there. Must rectify that.
The Corn Exchange looks to be a beautiful building!! I have never been to Leeds, but it looks like a lovely city to visit, with lots of history. Hope the food parcel went down well!! xx
I love that he wanted to see you, and the food parcel and lunch out but that you spent the day together is so nice.
It all looks wonderful, Diane - I feel a visit should be looked into especially as some of Paul's ancestors were lock keepeers on the Aire and Calder Canal. The County Arcade is stunning. Didn't M&s start with the penny bazaar at Leeds Market or have I made that up?:)
I hope the exams went well. Daniel's exams were three weeks ago but he hasn't got his results yet. I'm so pleased that the old arcades have been restored, there's some fabulous shops to be found in them now, and in the Corn Exchange too.
Had no idea that Leeds was such a beautiful city, love your pictures.

Gosh, Leeds has changed a lot since I was there in the late 50's!! The Aire and Calder areas was, not to put it too finely - filthy! I loved the Arcades then, but I reckon the shops have changed a lot since then. I don't recall ever going in the Corn Exchange - though there might have been a market then, but basically, it was not used. We used to live up in Headingly, and I know that has changed enormously! And so have students!!
So many interesting places to see there. I like it when the old buildings are spruced up and reinvented.
Your photos are great, love them.....very arty young lady! Xxx
