Hopton Hall

We usually visit a Snowdrop Garden at this time of year, and last year, the garden we usually visit (Hodsock) was a huge disappointment (due to the owners trying too hard to maximise profits!) .  My lovely bloggy friends Rosie and Louise suggested Hopton Hall, and so we thought we would give it a go.

Well all I can say is that Hopton Hall was gorgeous.  The day was perfect - so sunny  with lovely blue skies.
It seems to have been a very good year for Snowdrops.  They look taller and more robust than ever!  They are such a beautiful flower and so very welcome at this time of year.

We loved the walled garden.  It was a real suntrap.  Hubby and I found a bench and sat with our faces pointing into the sun for some time.  I love that feeling.

We had a great wander round the gardens.  I'm not a winter person and I love the promise of "things to come" on days like this.

Thank you Rosie and Louise for recommending this gorgeous place.  We had a fabulous day - and it didn't end here.  I'll show you where else we went later.  But until then, just bask in this glorious sunshine like we did. xx

I'm glad you enjoyed your visit, the snowdrops looked lovely. I was confused when I realised you meant my, not another Louise, as I thought I hadn't written a nice review of Hopton and just checked my post to make sure - http://roachling.blogspot.co.uk/2013/08/hopton-hall-and-carsington.html

I had considered giving the place another chance for the snowdrops but I don't think we'll be able to visit before the snowdrops disappear this year.

Glad you enjoyed it and thought it worth the visit, I'll look forward to seeing where you went after, I'm wondering if it was the water very close!

The snowdrops are gorgeous -- and so many of them! I don't think I have seen so many all together at one time. We don't get snow drops in our part of the world and I really miss them.

How very odd! We went off to Doncaster to the Antique and Collectors fair yesterday at the race course and passed the sign for Hodsock snowdrops. Hadn't heard of them before. We went to Doddington Hall last year and despite the snow quite enjoyed it. Horton Hall sounds delightful though and I will certainly add it to our list of places to visit this year. Thanks for the tip and the lovely post. X

That looks a fabulous place to visit and as usual your photographs bring it to life for me. Those snowdrops are beautiful - we have a very few in our garden, I'm waiting patiently for them to thicken up!
