Lemon and Poppy Seed Madeleines

After work, I decided to be a good wife and bake before hubby got home.  I decided to make Gordon Ramsay's  Lemon and Poppy Seed Madeleine's - recipe here.  They are relatively easy to make, the timing is critical though.  This successful batch were baked using a silicone baking tray......

My romantic notion to bake using this vintage Madeleine tray from France didn't quite work!

They look delicious!
You can't beat modern tins or moulds though!

They look very nice and although the ones in the tin didn't turn out to look as pretty I bet they tasted nice - and would of course have needed immediate munching to dispose of the evidence! Have you tried a baking tin spray for the vintage tin, I use one and it is pretty effective, even on very intricate tins. xx

Damn, there's nothing worse than not being able to get something out of the tin intact!
Your madeleines look delicious though. That sounds rude, but it isn't, honest! xxx

Maybe the antique tray should be kept for display purposes only! After all if you bake something so tasty it's nice if it looks nice too! Bet they were appreciated no matter what.

Well done you for making a second batch (which do look lovely, btw). I'd have served up the first lot, declaring
'They're meant to look like that'!

I bought poppy seeds the other day to make a poppy seed cake which I haven't done for ages. Your madeleines look wonderful and I bet the first ones tasted as good as the second ones even if they didn't look quite the same:)
