Hooton Pagnall

So on Sunday, I had a few extra calories to work off!!  The walking group were meeting in the gorgeous little village of Hooton Pagnall, between Barnsley and Doncaster.  Rain was forecast, but we managed to get away with lovely blue skies.

These are a welcome sight at the moment!  I'm always so happy to see the first snowdrops.

Although it was dry, the fields were incredibly muddy.

We also commented that the buds on the trees are starting to burst open too.

It was a great choice for a walk - on our doorstep so not far to drive at this time of year.

I love the Rapunzel Window on Hooton Pagnall Hall.  This is not open to the public and I don't know who lives here, but it looks very well kept.

As you know, I always love a house that looks as if Mr Darcy would come calling!
The mock Tudor building is actually the village pub.  Our group walk always ends with a sociable drink and this little pub was gorgeous.  It is called "The Hostell" and the bar is upstairs so that you get the fantastic views over the countryside at the back.  The Sunday Lunches look pretty fab too!
Another great little walk with our merry band.

For details of our walking group please visit their website http://www.dvwg.org.uk/   We would love you to join us.

I like the look of Hooton Pagnall - not a place I know, but one that I obviously should!

Hi ...I live not far from there ..but not a place I know. Does the walking group meet every week ? would be interested to know more details if that's possible. I do know New Miller Dam though, I had to travel past this when going to some classes when I studied at Bretton Hall. Took the kids when they were small around the lake a few times they loved it. Hope you're keeping warm on this snowy Thursday :)

Another pretty place to have close by, it's made me curious to know who lives there!
Signs of the earth coming back into life are always a welcome sight.
As is a welcoming pub!

What a lovely place for a walk. I bet all those fields, lanes and lovely buildings are covered in snow now!

I do remember walking through the English mudslide, I mean country side, almost had my boots sucked off.
Any walk that ends at a pub is a good walk.

That looks like a fantastic walk, and the weather seems almost Spring-like (not so much now, after all this snow...) All walks should end in a pub, I reckon! xxx

You always seem to take such interesting walks! The buildings are particularly interesting aren't they. xx

Another lovely walk Diane.
I do like the look of that pub, looks like it should be in the Cotswolds.
