Our first walk of the new year with our walking group was a very wet affair. We met at Roche Abbey in Rotherham - a suprisingly extraordinary peaceful oasis on the outskirts of this little town. We had a great turnout for the walk, but the weather was foul - "silling it down" as we say in these parts!
I only got my camera out to photograph the beautiful abbey as I thought I would ruin it in the rain.
Having said all that, I really enjoyed the walk and would have been bored at home just looking out at the rain. I felt invigorated afterwards, and slept really well that night too.
It was a circular walk, and once back at the abbey, the sun came out and the sky changed to clear blue!! Typical.
I'm looking forward to seeing where else we get with the group this year.
You know I love being outdoors.

How come I've never been here? It looks beautiful, despite the weather! xxx
Glad you are still getting out with the group Diane. You inspired me to join a local walking group too. we have been out today....it was very muddy, but still wonderful to be out in the countryside.
Happy New Year

Nothing like slip sliding in the mud to get you going. The Abbey is lovely.\
Roche Abbey looks wonderful and so atmospheric. I'm glad you still enjoy walking with your group it all sounds like fun even in the mud:)
Really lovely photos and good for you, getting out and about. I'm getting very itchy feet for some walks now. Suzy

Fantastic pictures! And sometimes a walk in bad weather is just the thing to set you up for feeling really happy at home!
What a good start to the year of walking. Very atmospheric photos with the different light.
