The light at the end of the tunnel

I'm not a January person. I hate wishing my time away, but I'm glad its almost over. However one of the aspects about the month that I like is that the day light hours get measurably longer. After work, I now get about an hour and a half of daylight to play with.

So on my way home on Thursday I called for a walk around the grounds at the garden centre.
The fresh air, exercise and injection of colour perked me up no end.

And Mother Nature finished my stroll with a light show of her own.

It was the best one and a half hours of my day.

I am not a January person at all, either. But how could you not be brightened up with all that color. Beautiful!

I'm Ok with January but can't wait til spring. Bulbs are peeking out so not far off.
Super colours in those bedding plants.

You can't beat a trip to a garden centre to lift your spirits. I'm getting slightly excited by a few extra minutes daylight each night. I hate this time of year too, and am longing for spring.

Roll on the lighter days = at least there are lovely sunrises on my way to work at the moment!

I haven't been as bad this January as I usually am, perhaps it's because the weather's been so mild. The extra daylight at the end of the day is certainly becoming more noticeable now.

It's nice to think that Spring and the longer, lighter evenings aren't too far away now isn't it? Beautiful sunset photos.

Hi Diane, I agree with you when it comes to January, and it's a relief to know that the days are lengthening noticeably. You have captured colour - and beauty, nevertheless! Have a lovely weekend.

Oh, I'm looking forward to Spring too!

I can't wait to be rid of Winter, although to be fair this year it's not been too bad.

But Spring is my favourite time of the year, when everything is shooting up fresh and green.

I always think we need January, so that we can appreciate Spring when it comes! We have two birthdays in January to keep us going.

January usually does feel a long, dark month but it seems to have gone so quickly this year. The colours in those flowers lift the spirits and your sunset is gorgeous:)

Only a couple of days to February, a short month, then March and before you know where you are it's spring. Yay!

It amazes me how they grow such beautiful flowers in winter even in hot houses. A nice way to end the day.

Lucky you, I don't get home from work in daylight until the middle of Fbruary and by then I'm climbing the walls, desperate for sunshine and colour. Cosy evenings in with the fire lit and the curtains closed are beginning to wear a bit thin. Thank goodness for the weekends.

PS I forgot to say thank you for the beautiful photos.

I can't wait until it gets warm outside, I'm dying to plant something. Now where I live, I don't have the threat of local wildlife eating my plants. At my other house, the local deer population always ate my lilies, they were cute little animals, but they kept it near impossible to grow anything and plus, local cats decided to use our front garden as their porta potty. It's severely gross when you check on your garden and find cat crap in it.

But now that I'm in Ohio, I can safely grow flowers again. I'm dying to grow something!!!!!!
