Whitby for Mothers Day

I don't get to spend much time with my Mum on our own, so for Mothers Day I decided to treat us both to a coach trip to Whitby for the day.  We did really well weather wise as the sun decided to shine as soon as we stepped off the coach (although it was very nippy!)

Whitby is a fabulous place to walk around and I think it photographs so well,

There is so much to see and do, plenty little alleys to explore and peep down.

For lunch we had the obligatory Fish & Chips, but for cake and coffee it always has to be the stunning La Rosa.

Mum hadn't been before and she didn't quite know what to think!  (there is a lot to look at!)  But she did love the cake and the "Throne" that she got to sit in .  It was a beautiful and very peaceful oasis.
We don't always see eye to eye Mum and I, so we thought that a house on Arguments Yard would suit us!  We did well on Mothers Day though and didn't have one cross word!

I love Whitby -- especially their fish n' chips. It is interesting to me that I have seen this statue of Captain Cook and have also been to his monument in Hawaii where he was killed. An amazing man.

Hi Diane. What a wonderful set of pictures. We are having a week in Whitby very shortly and these have made me look forward to it even more! We will definitely be looking up La Rosa. Although I have visited the town many times before I have never been there. So glad you had this lovely day with your mum. X

What a great day out! It's lovely to be by the sea even if it isn't summer-y weather. It looks like you had lots of springtime sun though and a wonderful day out with your Mum. Maybe I'll plan something similar for my mom and I for Canadian Mother's Day in May.

Excellent choice for a day out on Mothers Day. I hope your mum enjoyed seeing Whitby through a bloggers eye!
Lovely jumper you've got on, looks very snuggly.
