A brief respite

This weekend, a good friend is helping us fit our "wombled" recycled kitchen units. So whilst the kitchen is looking like this....

the living room/dining room is looking like this.
For a brief respite, I took myself off with my friend to the local church as they were holding a Snowdrop festival.

The weather on Saturday was misty, murky, wet and cold, so we didn't hang around looking at the Snowdrops for very long.

If you double click this one, you can see raindrops on Snowdrops!

After a brief photography session outside, we headed inside for coffee and cake.

The stained glass windows added some much needed colour to the day.

And the plain leaded window showed just how dull and grey the day actually was.

It does look like you had a cold and damp day but I hope the coffee and cake took the chill off. The photos are lovely and I especially like the first headstone/cross. It looks like it has a Celtic design on it? The stained glass window is beautiful.

I hate having the house upside down while work is being done, too stressful. You did the right thing escaping it all. There's some lovely old headstones in the churchyard. I love the stained glass, definitely something to brighten up the day.

Wasn't it a grey day yesterday? Snowdrops are always beautiful and tea and cake sounds like a nice added extra. Those stained glass windows are a great splash of colour. Hope the work in your kitchen gets done soon - I remember what it was like when we refurbished ours!! Hope you can get out in the sun today - it's lovely here at the moment:)

It'll be worth the upheaval once it is done. Love the celtic grave stone.

Hope your kitchen's more sorted - it's unsettling, isn't it?! Lovely pics, even in the rain! Have a good week, Abby x

All will be well - repeat and then repeat again and all that stuff in your front room will magically rearrange itself back into your cupboards. If only. It will be worth it though we its all fully fettled. Feeling much better now thanks just one of those lovely 24 hour jobs.

That's quite funny as we are actually watching The Wombles at the minute :-)

Oh we did all that upheaval 2 years ago ... it's worth it in the end, and a good opportunity to buy some nice pretty things for the new kitchen! We've had a lovely weekend on this side of the Pennines... no rain at all.
Love the idea of a snowdrop festival!
Have a great week!

Saw the word Resurgam on one of the grave stones - coincidentally this is the name of a piece of music that the brass bands have been playing in a contest this weekend in Bradford - it means I shall rise again - composed by mr eric ball.

Beautiful snowdrops and stained glass windows photos Diane - I think my favourite is the one of the plain glass window with the view of the tree on the other side.
Good look with your 'Wombled' kitchen. I bet you'll be pleased when it's all finished and you can get everything back into your cupboards.
