More images from Hooton Pagnell

You know I can't resist "Estate Green" paint!

I can't believe that there are so many brilliant but empty outbuildings - I see teeny tiny craft emporiums!

This would look perfect in my garden.

We had a wander around the church yard. I know its weird, but we find churchyards really interesting places.

I am always thrilled to find natures sculptures.

As you can see, the sun did shine briefly.

Whilst I am not overly "religious", I am a believer. Its quite often the church goers that put me off going to church on a regular basis (but that's another story). I always find Jesus on the Crucifix a very powerful image.

The family who own the land and village are called "Warde". We found plenty of their gravestones.

Why are old churchyards so fascinating? You can't help but stop and try to read the sentiments on the gravestones can you.
Love the photo of the twisted vine/branches on the church wall.

Those outbuildings would make fantastic little craft shops. I too love looking round churchyards, I find gravestones and inscriptions really interesting. I dread to think what that says about me.

The outbuildings are fantastic I love them, if only I had acres of land with a couple of these scattered around it! :)

Have you seen the blue paint at Hardwick Hall, love it!

All the old bits are lovely. But its a pity that the little cottage(?) with the brown gate didn't have its roof done with slates rather than those nasty modern tiles!

I thought for a moment that I was looking at photos of France! The old buildings are very reminiscent of old Brittany.
Thank you for visiting me. Like you, I hanker for Cornwall too, having grown up there.

I love Hooton Pagnell, Mr Twigs is from South Kirkby originally and I'm from Upton so we spent a lot of time walkig in that area. There is a nice walk just up the road from there at Frickley Country Park where the pit used to be.

Craft shops and tea rooms I think is a great idea.
You'll be ok for the scavneger hunt in March if you're doing it, for the peeling paint category.

Beautiful photos. I see they've chained the bench down, in case you decide it really would look good in your garden! Love the twisted branches. Abby x

I'm definitely not a churchgoer but I find churches fascinating places as they have been the centre of village life and history for centuries. It's a shame about the delapidated buildings, they would make lovely craft workshops.

Its not strange to find old churchyards interesting. I love them, they give a sense of timelessness and peace and my mind wanders as I wonder about the lives of the people whose names are on the stones. I like old churches too!

Hooton Pagnell is one of my favourite places. When I lived at Thurnscoe it was only a 45 mins walk across some beautiful countryside: I still visit although I live in Doncaster. By the way, did you stay and listen to the carillon?
