Hubby and I took ourselves off to walk more of the Cuckoo Way along the Chesterfield Canal today. We parked by the canal in an area of North Nottinghamshire called Rhodesia and walked into Worksop.
It was a very misty start to the day.....
which made for some atmospheric shots.
On our way back, the sun came out and it got very hot very quickly! I'm hoping that some local Worksop resident can tell me what this fabulous building was in its hey day. Any body know?
I loved the old industrial buildings alongside the canal.
The old flour mill is still in production - can you see all the flour blown on the side of the building? It has a very modern and large extension alongside it. Its great to see somewhere in our area still manufacturing. 
We saw a couple of narrowboats as we walked along.
On our way back, we took a stroll through Worksop itself. It has a lovely little market.
We had wanted to walk to Retford, but it seemed a long way, so we went to Retford in the car. We decided that next time, we would walk into Retford and then catch a bus back.Retford was just winding down after market day.
The market square is lovely and has a very grand town hall (newly restored by the looks of it!)
We found the canal again, and found you a very interesting fact!
All in all a perfect (and fairly flat) stroll on a lovely day.

Well I never I went to Retford yesterday - flea market/vintage market day and was going to blog about it but forgot to take photos. Also went to a lovely farm shop/cafe/ice cream parlour where the girls enjoyed an ikey pikey - Bothamsall just outside Retford - too far to walk. The old building I think was a water tower. It was restored and then nothing happened to it. Oh btw did you find the museum in Retford its only little but has some interesting displays. See you tomorrow. I thought about you today too as there were lots of cars parked by Anston Stones - nice day for a walkies - we went to car boot.
Like you I love the combination of old industrial buildings and water...wouldn't feel the same about a modern factory though! These are lovely pics and it sounds like a great day. Through your blog I am seeing so many places that I don't know even though it is (was) my home territory! I guess I would have kicked up a fuss at the age of 12 if taken to these places, and left home at 18. Must spend more time visiting in future now I have the time xx
A very interesting walk. I hope someone is able to tell you about that chimney/building.
I don't know how you mangage to post on the same day though! We were out early for a walk in the mist and sunshine but I have so many photos to sort out and then choose for my blog it'll be a day or two before I get my post ready!

I love canal walks especially where there's lots of lovely old buildings alongside. Thanks for sharing your photos.
The building's a Sewage pumping station - not so beautiful now, eh? The walk to Retford frowm Worksop is probably a bit much: over ten miles. Split in two: Worksop -> Ranby (pimping my own blog) and Ranby -> Retford (again)'s prolly best. The buses Worksop - Ranby - Retford are every 1/2 hour so no hardship to wait.
Saw Nb Florence as it reached Morse Lock so must have missed you by about 3/4 hour.

Canal walks are always interesting especially if there are narrowboats on the water. I've never been to either Worksop or Retford but they both look nice little towns.
Thanks for taking me on another of your interesting walks. The way that building was built over the canal is interesting and the long boats look so romantic. The misty shots were lovely too.
by the way, Diane did you know you'd seen Paula? That's her wool stall in Worksop Market.
What a lovely walk in the sunshine. I used to spend a week every year in Worksop staying with my Mum's friend who was always called Auntie and a trip to the market was a treat then:)

I love canals, and that one looks particularly fascinating! Don't know the Chesterfield canal, but we've been on lots of the others, in our more active days! Really good photos, Diane, congrats!
It was really misty here all day yesterday, it didn't lift until late afternoon, though in the morning we went to the other side of Leeds and it was a beautiful clear day. That's definitely my kind of walk, nice and flat.
The old pumping station is a lovely building.
It is good to see the old buildings having been refurbished and in use.
I love to be beside a canal or river; aren't the willows green?
You've been to my home towns. I recognise those tree's from in Kings Park, spent many an hour in there skiving from school! The museum in Retford is great!

Lovely to have you visit Lady Mondegreen's Secret Garden. And a treat to have a stroll along the canal with you. We never got to these parts with our narrowboat, but anything Canal orientated fills me with nostalgia. Romance indeed - infused with coal smoke and diesel fumes. The sewerage pumping station was presumably built to house a beam engine - beautiful things in themselves!
