For Mothers Day, my sis and I took Mum for a walk around Cusworth Hall and gardens in Doncaster.
It was a gorgeous day, but fairly cold. A 2 minute freak hailstone shower had us dashing inside the hall for cover.
The hall is now a museum of Doncaster life. I loved this photograph of ladies working in the railway offices. I complain that I sit on my backside all day at work, but I reckon I would complain more if I was made to stand all day instead!
Mum liked all the old appliances on display. If I had a £1 for every time she said "We had one of theses" I would have been considerably richer when I came out of the hall!
I loved this photo too. I wonder what these two were gossiping about over the fence?
Once the hail cleared, we had a lovely wander around the grounds and lake.
You can't tell how massive the buds are on this tree, but they were HUGE!
Its lovely to see signs of spring.

You wouldn't believe there'd been a hailstone shower, it looks such a lovely day. What a lovely place for a walk, and the exhibits look really interesting.

What an interesting place - love the old bits of kit exhibited. It looked a lovely clear day with blue skies - surprised about the hailstorm - but it didn't seem to spoil your enjoymnent of the day.
I bet those hailstones made you feel cold. It looks glorious though.

Looks like a lovely place. We had hailstones here too in the afternoon - it came and went so quickly it was hard to believe it happened:)

Sounds like a lovely day Diane and great that you could do a walk with your mum. Mine was just off on holiday and the girls both away (but home later) and T visiting his mum so I had Mothers day to myself - also good! I remember Cusworth Hall well - Mum went to teacher training college nearby and she used to take us there sometimes if she had to pop into college. To be honest, at age 9 or 10 I found it a bit dull but I do remember being fascinated by some dolls houses and old teddy bears they had there. I would probably see it all very differently now x
I love old appliances too, especially stoves for some reason.
I'm like your mum when I visit Museums. It looks a lovely hall and park. Lucky Mum.
I must definitely make a visit here, I love museums with all the things from bygone days. The photo of the two ladies made me laugh, it reminded me of Les Dawson and Roy Barraclough playing Cissie and Ada. Maybe you're too young to remember that but I bet your mum will know what I'm talking about:)
