So, unlike many place, we managed to send the Olympic Torch through South Yorkshire in a blaze of glorious sunshine.
There was a fantastic turnout in our neck of the woods - the kids had all just come out of school and were loving waving their flags again.
It was a totally brilliant atmosphere.
If you get chance to catch it, don't miss it.

It's not something I'm usually interested in, but it's coming through Doncaster tomorrow right passed the place where the choir I'm in meets. We've been practising songs to do with fire, running etc. to sing as it passes, but now the council says we can't sing outside because of insurance! We are still singing, but inside afterwards (no charge).
Anyway I'm looking forward to it, especially as Ben Parkinson is carrying the torch part of the way and last week there was some doubt that he would be able to participate.

Ive just taken My Son to see it, we watched from my work car park (HSBC next to st philips petrol station) he loved it. We went into town but the crowds were so deep we decided to make our way home and watch via the web.
We'll try for sun when it comes to us in a couple of weeks. I've got the info written down for the route,hopefully I'll have photos too!

Its coming near to us next week and we're all planning on going to see it. Little son is going with a group from school to one town and the rest of us are heading to the seaside to watch. Hope we have some good weather for it like you did.

I'm not really interested in the olympics, but it is coming to our village next week so I might go to see it
Its all very inspirational Diane, just seen it pass through Hooton Roberts on the way to Conisborough. Shame about Little Blue Mouse's choir not being allowed to sing though ( comments above ).
Lucky you! When it's been here in the US I've never been close enough to see it. Very exciting, no matter how into the actual events one may or may not be!
I went to work yesterday morning (supply Nursery Nurse) and was excited to find out we were taking the children to see the flame coming through Rotherham. As I had, like you, previously not been that fussed I thoroughly enjoyed it. Lots of people joined together having fun, waving flags, well organised and something not to miss if you get the chance to have a peek. Lots of policemen on motor bikes but of course you know all about those. lol. Btw the lady in your photo is possibly one of K's work colleagues. My sisters colleague carried it in Sheffield and someone from our village 21 year old daughter carried it too for work she has done for UNICEF - how fabulous.
