The Lost Gardens of Heligan

Our campsite was gorgeous, [peacful, full of wildlife and was on the Heligan Estate.  Heligan Woods had its own little gate into the gardens (but you still had to pay unfortunately  - but they were worth every penny.)  The gardens have been on my "list" ever since I first saw the restoration on Gardeners world with Tim Smit.  So come wander with me through the garden gate. 

 The gardens are so very lovely and truly romantic.  It was a little busy on the day we were there as a cruise ship bound for the Isles of Scily had docked in Falmouth because of rough sea's, and so the passengers had been ferried to Heligan.

 You only get a tatantalising glimpse of the house, which is a shame.  I'd love a nosey around.

 As well as formal gardens, they have lots of wild ones too.

 I loved the wild meadow walks - fields used to look like this when I was a young girl.

 The Jungle walk was interesting too.

 Cornish Gunnera grows sooooo big!

 From one part of the garden, you get a lovely view towards Mevagissey.

 This is what I wanted to see - the mud maid.  She's beautiful and I would love her in my own garden.

 She is having a few repairs done at the moment, but she is a stunner.

 The giant slightly reminds me of hubby!

 My fave bits of any large garden is always the walled fruit and veg gardens.  I hated gardening and garden centres when I was younger, but given the chance I would love to work in a walled garden now.
