A walk into Mevagissey

I asked the lady on reception at our camp site which was the best way to walk into Mevagissey.  She explained that we could walk down a cart road by the side of Heligan Gardens.  She said that it was a beautiful walk and you could quite believe that fairy's lived there!  She wasn't wrong.

I liked Mevagissey.  They were having a concert on the Quay featuring local bands.  Some good, some dodgy! Lots of villages along the south coast of Cornwall are similar in that they have a very winding country lane down to them and then a gorgeous little harbour, but all have very much their own identity.

They even had real pirates with real parrots!  How cool is that!

Our little party busied themselves trying to catch a few crabs.

And as the sun was out, my versatile camping trousers were rolled up to make shorts!

Cornwall is fabulous and it looks as if you all had a great time! Last year we went crabbing in Fowey and the crabs were on a suicide mission they couldn't throw themselves into our buckets quick enough! That road to Mevagissey certainly looks magical!

We stay just outside St Austell, close by to Mevagissey & Fowey.
The children love Mevagissey, just seeing your photo's makes me want to go back!

You were lucky to get such good weather - it all looks lovely - I haven't been to Cornwall for years - about time I rectified that.

You were so lucky to have blue skies and sun - Cornwall is obviously doing better than Devon! Hail and a thunderstorm here this afternoon, and I have just lit the fire - flaming June in my living room! Lovely photos on your blog.

It seems like forever that we were in Cornwall (or that we've seen Blue skies).
Love your photos Diane. x

Delighted to see your Cornish posts Diane - especially as I haven't yet visited Heligan. Glad to see also that you managed to get a good dose of sun despite dreadful conditions in the County on certain days last week!

Sun wasn't forecast today but St Ives has had plenty - and it's a really lovely evening. Not trying to make you jealous, honest..... x

Just popped by to say hello and thanks for the comment and fell in love with this post. Never been to Cornwall and oh what I have missed! I will certainly have to rectify it soon. You look like you had a marvellous time.

It looks so lovely. Never been myself but may have to give it a try next time I'm down there. Our son has a little cottage in St Ives and so we tend to keep to one place. The photos are great. P x

I remember going to Mevagissy as a child with mum n dad - I recall fishing for mackrell from the harbour Wall with an orange line - don't remember catching anything. There was a huge shop Powells on the harbour side probably gone now - thanks for the reminder of good times

I bet that was a lovely walk did you see any fairies? Your trousers are a great idea for camping.

Oh that's made to want to get in the car and go back there again! Maybe I'll wait for the weather to improve, if it ever does! Glad you had a good time.

I often get my worms mixed up and call it Megavissey which makes Kev's mum howl with laughter every time. It is lovely although I do recall a scary journey in the car down the steep hill at the far side of the village.

How lucky you were to get some sunshine, it looks lovely.

The best icecream I've ever had was in Mevagissey.
