So, Plan B.
On Saturday we decided that we would visit Elsecar Park as the roads started to clear of all the snow. We had a lovely walk round and managed to drag the young man round with us - he has finally finished his exams and can no longer use "revision" as an excuse to not leave his room!
It was lovely to find some colour in the park. and signs of Spring.
An old school friend/sort of relative (her sister married my Uncle) has recently taken on the Cafe in the park and we wanted to show our support. We called in for a bacon butty and cuppa - highly recommended!
And the Sunday, we drove out to Graves Park in Sheffield. We have had what is possibly the fastest thaw I can ever remember! Graves Park is lovely, but has to be one of the highest points of this very hilly city - and the wind was whistling!
It has a rare breeds farm which is free to visit and very popular.
They have some beautiful hens - these had found a lovely warm spot in the sun.
We loved the Eagle Owl - so majestic.
But my favourite animals were the highland cattle. Such gorgeous colours and (apart from the horns) very cuddly looking.
I love Park Life.

I have many memories of very cold, windy days in Graves park, also of some love lovely Spring, Summer days too. On the Norton side of the park is a 1930's housing estate. We lived on there when we first got married and I used to take my oldest child in her buggy around the animals frequently and we used to feed the ducks.
I've also spent many freezing cold Boxing days watching my husband playing football with a local scout group (old members against new, he has more sense now!
I love Highland cattle, I call them woolly bulls!

Awww, look at the cute animals! Too bad we don't have parks like that around here! If we want to see cute lil' farm animals, we have to actually go to a farm :D
I have never been to Elsecar but I know Graves Park very well, we have been chilled to the bone many a time up there! But it's always worth a visit, and the animals are great. xxx

Elsecar Park looked lovely covered with snow can't wait to see more picture's of it in the spring, my sister is one luckly lady living there.

I rarely go to Graves park in spite of the fact that I live quite near it. Have taken the grandchildren a couple of times to see the animals though and enjoyed that- must confess I'd rather have the open country than parks though:)
