and read all over? The signs in Wentworth Village.
I love this old sign - a relic from when we were in the "West Riding" and not South Yorkshire.
I had to walk across the grass to take this photo! What a rebel!
Lots of my favourite things - all on one sign!
Must organise a brewery trip. It is only a small micro brewery, but I'd still like a nosey around.
I bet some of the signs are fairly old, and I bet they were all made locally by craftsmen. So much nicer (and longer lasting) than modern day street furniture.

I'll be right off to the craft shops!
Perhaps Caddoc and I should move to the last address, instead of living HERE!
I'd like to come on one of your walks with you Diane!! xx
They're much nicer signs, aren't they? We have wooden pathway signs here, and I like those.
Great signs...don't " Keep off the Grass " signs make you want to run all over the pristine lawns ? They do me !
Love the old signs-they are so much nicer I agree, great photo`s !
Love the West Riding road signs - you are lucky to live near such lovely places. I think I could cope with the tea room, garden, antiques gifts and curios too - save me a cuppa I'm on my way:)
The old road sign is grand. As a girl born in the East Riding I too regret the introduction of the new regions. Part of the East Riding went into Humberside the rest into North Yorkshire and suddenly we didn't live in North Yorkshire anymore we were in Cleveland.
Lovely signs - no way you can ever be lost with OS numbers!!
Did you see Wentworth on Michael Portillo's Railway Journeys the other night?
Sue
That first signpost is lovely, I'd be following the arrow for the craft workshops.
I have learnt more about south yorkshire from you than ever I did when I lived there!
The old signs are lovely - take it Paradise Square is the one in Sheffield or have you got one locally? I really wish we still had the old county names (and boundaries!)The West Riding sounds so much more romantic than South Yorkshire.
I agree with John Gray (by the way we are not related) sometime's wished I'ld never left when I read your blog.
Great selection of signs, love them. Diane
PS - I asked George - he said he's mine now!!
Love the old road sign ... so nostalgic.... and showing the way to a craft shop!!!
I will show you the new sign they've put up at the top of our road in my Project 365 post on Friday. We think it's hideous!

Looking forward to our ladies day out!
I wonder what life is like in Paradise Square?
I think I'd like to foloow that sign too.
Tea rooms by the park would be a splendid idea, Lydia has offered to come and do the baking!

Did you see Wentworth on Country File last Sunday Diane?

I love those old signs, so much more attractive than the new ones.
Now Diane - how do you Yorkies pronounce Nether Haugh? I would say Huff (or perhaps How)
And as for Greasebrough - Greezebru (short 'u' as in Hug)
Lovely signs, and great photos.
The signs are really nice. They are things of beauty in themselves. I would have had to put my big toe on the grass near the 'keep off the grass' sign!!! x
You rebel you but not as bad as throwing up over a wall. I love the street signs.
Didn't know who Monty Halls was - just googled - mmmm X
Have fun with Lyn tomorrow! And please, do take some pictures for your nosey bloggy friends!
xxxxx
What a good idea, capturing the signs as you walk. I'm always looking for something to record as I walk. I shall return to your blog for more inspiration!!
