The young man set off at 2 am this morning on a skiing trip with school to Italy. It is his second holiday away from us, so I am feeling a bit more relaxed about it this time. Some of you may remember his very worrying texts, describing his near death experiences when he went white water rafting to the Ardeche region of France a couple of years ago! and then his heartbreaking texts on the arduous journey home where he listened to Michael Buble singing "Home" about 100 times! I did receive my first text from him at 6.30am this morning:
" The girl on the bus seat in front of us was sick, and it dribbled down to us. I have eaten a sandwich."

What a wonderful start to his holiday! Hope things improve from here........
hilarious....the downside of texting is you dont get the full picture and its worrying....he will have a fab time x
Hello Diane. Least you have heard from him!! Jasper has gone off on his ski trip, 30 hrs on a coach to get there and a text from his Dad to say he had left his phone at his. Maybe that's a good thing??????????????????????????????
Ten long days ahead of me hoping that he doesn't show off and return home with something broken!! Boys!!!!!
Spluttered into my tea reading his text!! Hope he has a good time and you have a relaxing one!
Ha ha, it can only get better from here. I'm sure he'll have a great time.
LOL - at least you know he is OK. Diane
Oh dear! I wonder if he ate the sandwich before or after the girl was sick :( So funny - at least he is texting you so you know he is OK! :)
Sounds like it didn`t put him off his sandwich anyway !
and theres me worrying about when my daughter goes on her first trip abroad on july 1st to france x
Your young man sounds like my young man! At the sight of blood he exclaims 'I feel weak'!!! I expect you will be receiving many more texts from him. When I went pony trekking in Wales aged 11 I wrote my Mum a letter to say how much I hated it and that I was homesick. I think she still has that letter to this day!!! x
Only a boy could have written that text!
He told you the important stuff!
Brilliant.

At least you know he's eating :0)

Fab, just what I like to read, someone who isn't put of food by someone vomitting - he has a future medical career ...
I just wanted to say thankyou for the lovely parcel that arrived yesterday - it couldn't have come at a better time, it's been a tough few weeks at work, and the suprise, followed by the thoughtfullness of the gifts lifted my spirit & soul..
Thankyou
Lx
I'm sure your son will have a fab time. It's lovely that he is texting you even when content is, well "interesting". My youngest daughter's first big trip away from home was to France and we live in Australia. That was a bit scary as France is a long way from us. She was 16 at the time and had an absolute ball. They had more freedom than I was expecting, if I had known at the time I would have freaked. She came home safe and sound, healthy and happy.
Enjoy your Sunday,
Anne xx
Oh oh, I'd rather not know! Work on the basis that no news is good news.
Ha ! This is so funny Diane . I'm still chuckling over your " dolly dimple" post, showed it to my mum this week and she loved it too :0)

I think its going to be a long bus trip, just 12 ? more hours to go..yay! Oh the joy of flying! It is worth every penny (unfortunately 3x the penny?!). But once he's there I'm sure he will have an AWESOME time.Don't worry, let him have fun! xx
