Haworth Wartime Weekend

So on Saturday morning we set off for Haworth to join the merriment of the 1940's weekend.  I seem to have been a bit too absorbed in the whole thing and took surprisingly few photographs!

The town certainly gets dressed for the event and the atmosphere is fabulous.

The weather was not very kind to us on Saturday morning and we had a bit of a downpour which was a shame, however it din't rain for long so I think we were lucky.
 I loved the Yanks
They certainly played up to their parts!
And I enjoyed the singing and the dancing
And then I managed to find myself a policeman! My Aunty commented that I looked like my Grandma! I'd had to buy the fur coat in a charity shop as I was so cold! I hasten to add that no animals had been harmed in the making of this coat!
We all had a fabulous day - it did get crowded, but it was a lovely atmosphere.  We have a couple of 40's events in Sheffield soon.  There is one at Kelham Island on the 21st and 22nd July and another at the Fire and Police Museum on the 1st and 2nd June.  I may just have to take my alter ego along!

Lovely Lyn at Everyday Life managed to take some better photographs on the Sunday, so pop over and have a look.

Looks like fun. It's so sad that Britain got bombed real bad back in the War. IDK why London got the brunt of the bombing. 'Cuz I really don't think Britain really asked to get drawn into it

I must agree with John Grey's comment.

You looked quite the part in your hat and coat. Loved the woman with the pram.

I read Lyn's blog earlier, so good to know you had both had fun there.

You look as if you all had a good time despite the weather! Our younger daughter is into the 1940s dance scene and anything from that era although recently she's got interested in the jazz age as well. Great fun dressing up at these events!
