Off I trotted to Manchester - as you may have heard, it always rains in Manchester, and not just spits and spots, but biblical proportions!!
I met up with the very lovely Lyn from Everyday life, who was sporting a very fetching elfin style hairdo! Now this wasn't quite a blind date, as Lyn and I have met up before, but we had never met.....
the equally very lovely Kathy from Postcards from the Perfect Peninsular.
Lyn had organised afternoon tea for us at a very swish hotel. We ate the butties, and most of the scones, but had to bring the cake home in boxes as we just gassed so much that they didnt get eaten!!!!
We also got waved at by very young looking sailors!!!! How outrageous!
After our tea, we walked across to the Manchester Central venue where they were holding a stitchcraft fair. It was so lovely to shop for crafty type supplies with like minded people. We stroked fabric, and lusted after ribbon and buttons. The ladies talked me down from the Patchwork stall, but nothing could stop me buying gorgeous beads! Oh no! not another crafting hobby!
We all ended up buying the same lovely Tilda book - seduced by the summer Angel on the cover. We decided that the race was on - first one to recreate her!! (she may end up not looking quite as lovely!!).
Then we had to part to go home. Thanks girls, you were great company - you honestly could not wish to meet 2 nicer ladies.
After a bit of a sprint to the railway station, I managed to catch an earlier train than I thought I would - which was a good job, as shortly after, a landslide caused trains between Sheffield and Manchester to stop running - and they are still not running as I write!!
Once home, I opened up my goodies that Lyn and Kathy had brought for me - and I loved them. What a truly wonderful world Blogland is.
What a perfect day, Friendship, cake and crafting inspiration.
That does sound like the perfect day.
Looking forward to seeing your Summer Angel.
Lovely bloggy friends, cake and a craft fair - what more could you wish for?
Glad you managed to get home before the trains stopped running.
Sounds like a great day despite the weather. Beads and things have a magnet if I go near them :) Diane
Maybe one day I might appear on your blog, teehee!
word verification unbumari hee
Sounds like you had a great day, I love Manchester. Thanks for the info about the landslide - DH is supposed to be going over to Lancashire on the train tomorrow so now he'll know to check the situation before he leaves!
I heard about this wonderful day out on Kathy's blog! I said I wished I lived nearer as I would have loved to have joined in the fun too but to be honest I would be too shy to meet up!!! I can't wait to see what the 3 of you make from your new books! x
Glad to hear you enjoyed your day :)
How perfect Diane. It sounds so much fun and I love your goodies. I am a huge fan of Tilda too! I have two Tilda books but want more!!!!!!
I can quite see why you were seduced by the summer angel. Hope you have a fab week ahead and look forward to meeting up with you again soon when you come down ... we can have cakes too!
ps. I'm having a giveaway on my blog if you want to pop over ... one of my textile art hearts for Valentine's Day. I would love you to enter x
Wasn't it a lovely day? It was so much fun ... I've never been on a blind date in my life!
My cakes were fine when I got home (and very tasty too).
I've had the sewing machine out today, but don't worry, I'm a very long way off from making an angel. I made a simple bag for something we're doing in school. All straight seams and no fiddly bits. Still a struggle for me though.
You could easily win this challenge if you make a move before Lyn gets her craft room set up!
Lots of love
Sounds like a lovely day. Glad you all enjoyed yourselves. x
That sounds so lovely. I've had a bummer of a weekend and a plateload of worries - so an hour or so reading other people's cheery blogs has helped my perspective hugely. Hooray for blogging!
I already knew what you'd been up to by reading the blog of one of your partners in crime. So pleased you had such a good time, made a new friend and ate cake. Also pleased you had a good rant on my blog though I detest the circumstances you wrote about, it is simply wrong. I can't imagine such people have any joy in their lives which may be some form of justice.
Thanks for sharing your lovely day and what a pretty button heart!
Sounds like the perfect afternoon!
Glad you had a good time in Manchester. Yes, it did rain, and rain, and rain. I drove into S. Manchester yesterday to see daughter, grandsons and great granddaughter, and everywhere was under water. Some poor little Shetland ponies were trying to edge past a huge lake on their field to reach a tiny bit of grass!
(I was pleased to see on way home that they had been re-fielded elsewhere!)
It sounds like the perfect day, I'm sure you all had lots of fun.
What fun to meet some bloggers. That afternoon tea looked scrumptious. Fun shopping with like minded. Lucky you got home safely. Looking forward to seeing angel.
How totally lovely- great to see those lovely gals... where is the pic of you ? I'll check their Blogs !
I've met some Bloggers in real life which was such fun and in March I'm meeting my newly found cousin for the first time she is now a Blogger too !
I too read about your wonderful day out on Kathy's blog. I'm so glad you three were able to meet up and that you had a super time. If you had butties and scones as well no wonder you had to take your cakes home! Gosh didn't it rain? Well it did here and we tend to get similar weather. Good job you got that last train back home or you would have had to travel miles out of the way to get back. Super pressies to open at home and lots of lovely shopping to look at too:)xx
LOL Diane! That Lyn is such a woman of honour! ;D
I'll be back for a 2nd detailed reading soon!
Manchester looks pretty nice compared to what's going on here! And I'm willing to bet there's more to do there than here! Bellevue is sooooooo boring. Jeez, what I'd give to live somewhere else. England sounds pretty interesting, I'd love to live there. I seen you like The Full Monty as your favorite movie, cool, so do I. My favorite is Robert Carlyle, man he is so handsome. There's this one guy my dad works with that's from Manchester, it's so cool. I love the way he talks, he has this real nice English accent.
Sounds a lovely day out, so nice to be able to meet like-minded people. Glad you made it home safely too.
Diane...I've read somewhere that you're meeting Lisa..I'll ask her to do the same as Lyn..mwhahaha hahahahahaaaa! Just kidding!
Glad you had a wonderful time with your bloggy friends!
Just been over to Kathy's blog and finally got to see what you look like, honestly you've been palming us off on photos of you as a child for long enough (I know, I can talk!). It sounds like you all had a fab day, and looks a lot of fun. X
Ps you look wonderful x
I'm a bit behind in blogland!! That looked like good fun, looking forward to our meet up in May! xx
