We went in the maze - but at 6foot 6inches tall, hubby can see over the top which makes it a bit too easy to find our way out.
The colours of Autumn are very much in evidence.
I think that these are Autumn Crocus.
The water feature in the garden has had some work done on it, and its looking nice now. They have tried to restore it back to how it was originally, but they couldn't get it to work - however, they have done well to get it to work at all I think.
The new (and very huge) tearooms have opened and have been tested several times at different times of the day(Breakfast, Lunch, Coffee and cake stop etc) by Mr Heartshaped and myself. We can report that we have not been disappointed yet!
The gardens are free to wander around, and are lovely. I need to make most of the good weather and light when I can - I really don't like long dark nights.

I'm not a lover of shorter days, but I absolutely love Autumn - the colours, the crispness in the air.
It looks like you were at Wentworth by yourselves, there doesn't seem to be another soul about.

Oh I hate the darkness that's creeping up on us right now ... it's so depressing to think we'll be in darkness now for the many months ahead of us. I couldn't live in the Arctic Circle where they have 24 hours darkness in Winter. On a brighter note we had a beautiful, warm, sunny, good to be alive, sort of day yesterday.
Bit grey today though so I'll have to find something nice to do!

I love walled gardens! They usually have so much history with them. Have you ever been to the one at the Priory in the middle of an industrial estate at Runcorn? (Sorry, my senior moments are getting far too frequent and I can't remember the name, except its something like Norton!)

I used to hate going to work in the dark and coming home in the dark too, always made the effort to take a walk outside at lunch time. Such a nice idea to go to the gardens before dinner, they are beautiful.
You know, I feel that the dark evenings stop me from gardening, but the light evenings in summer stop me from knitting because the garden needs attention. Sometimes it feels as if the grass is always greener and all that... so I'm going to enjoy the long dark evenings and knit and crochet to my heart's content. There will be time for the garden again.

There is something very special about walled gardens - the one at Wentworth looks lovely - I'd love to visit. I too hate it when the dark evenings come in and shorten the days:)

Thanks for the comment. I know what you mean about the smell of making chutney but it's not half as bad as doing pickled onions! My lot nearly leave home when I start them.
Love these gardens and what a great idea to make the most of them whenever you can. I would too if I had something like that near enough.

I love your pretty autumn photos, I also love Wentworth walled garden - we were there on Sunday but sadly it was raining and we had to duck in the cafe to refresh ourselves (what a shame eh!).
